Normally, when a violent incident takes place, the state intelligence department is the first to know about it. However, things in the Congress-ruled state Rajasthan seem to work otherwise. Here, the organizations alleged to have had a hand in the Karauli violence knew beforehand about the incident.
Violence against Hindus in Karauli
Recently, once again Hindus were punished for enjoying their Constitutional right to freedom of religion in Rajasthan. A communal tension broke out in Rajasthan’s Karauli when a motorcycle rally, to celebrate Nav Samvatsar, the first day of the new year under the Hindu calendar, was passing through a Muslim-dominated area. Apparently, Hindus were attacked with trademark Islamists’ style of stone-pelting, a less aggressive form of their war against India.
Apprising that Hindus’ rally was attacked when they were passing through a mosque, ADG Administration and Law and Order, Hawa Singh Ghumaria, said, “Hindu outfits were taking out a religious bike rally on the occasion of Hindu new year today evening. While the procession reached a mosque, some miscreants pelted stones at them. This resulted in stone pelting and arson by the other side too in which a few two-wheelers and shops were torched.”

Muslim Congress Councilor is the main accused
Matloom Ahmed, Congress Councilor has been identified as the person who allegedly incited violence. Reportedly, he has been booked for an attempt to murder under Section 307 of IPC. He is accused of stone-pelting, inciting violence, and organizing a mob to attack the rally. He is on the run, but a dedicated team is on his lookout.
The area is now brimming with tension. According to a report by Republic TV, more than 1,200 police personnel have been appointed in order to oversee the implementation of imposed curfew. Mobile Internet has been suspended and a total of 46 persons have been arrested.
PFI’s communication to Rajasthan government
In an interesting turn of events, reports have emerged that the Popular Front of India (PFI), an extremist Islamic organization in India had first-hand information about the possibility of violence. Reportedly, they had issued a strict warning to the Gehlot government about the probable attack on Hindu New Year.

BJP has raised questions about the possible link-up between PFI and the Congress government, Shehzad Poonawaala, BJP’s spokesperson wrote on Twitter, “PFI wrote a letter in advance to Gehlot govt about violence in Karauli! How did they know that there would be violence targeting the Hindu New Year Shobha Yatra? Was it Sanyog or Prayog? If PFI knew how did the Rajasthan administration not know? Or did look the other way?”

Hard to believe that PFI did it as a goodwill gesture
PFI, an extremist Islamic organization was formed in 2006, as a successor to National Development Front. PFI, a political outfit based in Kerala, is a top favorite of the so-called ‘secular’ parties and an eyesore for law enforcement agencies. It is believed that PFI is an offshoot of SIMI, the mastermind of the 2006 Mumbai and 2008 Ahmedabad blasts. PFI and its student wing CFI have been actively involved in the anti-CAA protests and Hijab controversy.

It will be immature to reach any conclusion before the investigation is completed. However, looking at the PFI’s history, it seems more immature to speculate that they warned the Rajasthan government in order to quell the possible breakout of the law and order mechanism. Maybe they did it to ensure that they do not come into the fray of suspicion. It’s a trademark of modern-day Islamism to preach peace on one hand and commit brutality on the other. The preaching acts as a shield in narrative warfare.
