A few days ago, a suicide case was reported in Tamil Nadu by various media organisations. A minor girl aged 17 committed suicide after being constantly pressurized to change her religion.
The cases of forceful religious conversions are gradually increasing in India. Recently, a Hindu female journalist alleged that she was pressurised and abused by her boss, allegedly backed by Samajwadi Party (SP) & Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Journalist forced for conversion
As per the reports, she was employed by Shanavas (Shaan) Chaudhary owned News Action Network, a YouTube-based ‘news’ channel and has an office in Preet Vihar, Delhi.
The victim alleged, “Shanavas told that she looked ‘more like a Muslim’ and thus had offered to pay her 1 lakh rupees instead of the 25,000 that she was being given as salary if she accepted his religious faith.”
In a shocking revelation, a female journalist from a Youtube News Channel based in Delhi’s Preet Vihar alleged that the MD of the News Portal ‘Shaan Chaudhary’ forced her to convert Into Islam. #ForcedConversion #Islam #Delhi #PreetVihar #DelhiPolice pic.twitter.com/7CI17VIfNV

The journalist further alleges that she left the job and when she contacted the news channel to clear her dues, they abused and threatened her. She also alleged that she was being forced by the staff to convert to Islam.
Police reluctant to take any action
Shockingly, Delhi police have not taken any action against the owner of the channel, yet. The Preet Vihar police officers reportedly have refused to even register an FIR.
The victim said, “No action has been initiated or evidence collected against either Shanavas Chaudhary or the other accused who pushed, shoved and abused her.”
She also approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi on January 10 but as usual, no action was taken against the news channel.
On the contrary, local police are of the opinion that the ‘real issue’ was the unpaid salaries.
It is pertinent to note that News Action Network’s owner Shanavas, in a video, was seen sulking after the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) denied him a party ticket for the upcoming UP elections from Hasanpur. Earlier, he was also portrayed as a Samajwadi Party candidate by his news channel, News Action Network.
Whatever the case might be, but if it is truly a case of forceful conversion attempts, then the situation of Hindus in India is becoming a matter of concern. Forceful conversion is becoming a threat to the social fabric of India. If the allegation levied by the female journalist in the above case is true, then strict action needs to be taken. No one deserves to be threatened or pressurised to convert.
