A 23-year-old Hindu woman’s FIR lodged at Jamia Nagar Police Station on 14 May 2026 has triggered a multi-state investigation across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh into a detailed chain of complaints involving identity deception on social media, sexual assault, abduction at gunpoint, confinement, forced Nikah, repeated exploitation and alteration of official records.
Police have arrested five individuals linked to a Meerut-based family, including Faheem, his parents, a brother and a cleric. Two other members remain absconding. The investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Sharanya, with officers examining statements, locations and documentary evidence across jurisdictions.
Instagram identity and initial contact
According to the FIR, the woman first came into contact with Faheem in November 2021 through Instagram. He introduced himself as “Sahil” and concealed his identity. Over time, the interaction developed into a relationship.
Batla House meeting and assault
In March 2022, she was called to Batla House in Delhi. The FIR states that she was taken to a flat where she was given a spiked drink and sexually assaulted by Faheem and another individual. The incident was recorded on video and photographs were taken, which were later used to threaten her and ensure continued compliance.
Abduction to Meerut and confinement
The complaint states that she was later called again and threatened at gunpoint before being taken to Sathla village in Meerut. There she discovered that “Sahil” was Faheem and that he belonged to a Muslim family.
She stated that Faheem and his father sexually assaulted her, while other family members confined her within the house and prevented her from contacting her family. Under pressure, she was forced to call her mother and claim she had entered into a consensual marriage, after which communication with her family stopped.
Forced Nikah and control inside the household
After about a week, she was taken to a madrasa in Agwanpur where Faheem’s maternal uncle, cleric Hafiz Manzoor, conducted a Nikah ceremony. The FIR records that repeated requests to return home were denied.
She stated that she was subjected to pressure to adopt specific religious practices, including wearing a burqa, dietary restrictions and domestic labour under strict control within the household.
Repeated exploitation
The complaint further details continued sexual exploitation inside the premises involving visiting clerics and other men. It states that money was exchanged in connection with these visits and that her mother-in-law played a role in facilitating the arrangement.
She also stated that other Hindu women were brought into the village under similar circumstances, while villagers were aware of the situation but advised acceptance.
Childbirth, record alteration and escape
The FIR records that she became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter in March 2023 while still under confinement. It also states that Aadhaar records were altered, replacing her father’s name with Faheem’s name through a village-level functionary.
In November 2024, Faheem brought her and the child to Batla House following internal disputes within the family. He was later arrested in a weapons-related case.
On 10 May 2026, she attempted suicide but was stopped by a passerby who urged her to approach authorities. She filed the FIR on 14 May 2026 at Jamia Nagar Police Station.
Police have arrested Faheem, his father Khurshid, mother Tasleem, brother Zaid and a cleric, while two other family members remain absconding. The investigation continues as officers reconstruct the sequence of events and verify evidence across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
