Could the Maidaan teaser be signaling the arrival of a pure Indian sports drama?

After a delay of several years, "Maidan" is finally being presented.

Maidaan teaser: It is said that the entire film cannot be judged by a teaser, but the matter of “Maidaan” is something else. Read in this article how “Maidan” will fulfil the unfulfilled dream of the Indian audience’s craving for sports drama, so let’s get started without delay.

Presenting “Maidaan teaser” after a delay of years…

Recently, the teaser for “Maidaan” was released, and in just 24 hours, it has earned more than 3 crore views on YouTube alone. This film was much discussed, but due to various reasons, this project was hanging in the balance.

Maidaan was announced in 2019 and is slated to be completed by 2021. But this too did not remain untouched by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, it got a slot for release in June, but there were so many obstacles in the production of this film that the film is now going to be released on June 23.

Can Ajay get the fourth National Film Award?

But what is “field” about? Over the years, the interest of the Indian film industry in sports has increased tremendously, and they do not want to be limited to cricket only. In this direction, Amit Rabindranath Sharma has composed “Maidan”.

Very few people know that this is only the third film of Amit Sharma, and the difference between his first and second film is Akash Patal. Who would believe that the person who made his film debut with a film like “Tevar” would make a film like “Badhaai Ho” a few years later?

Now this person has made Maidan,” keeping the golden era of Indian football in the centre. When Syed Abdul Rahim, coach of the football team of the Hyderabad City Police and a teacher by profession, took over the reins of the Indian team in 1950, little did anyone know that soon, under his guidance, Indian football would once again become the most powerful team in Asia. Will go

As South Korea has in football today, India once had the same stature and respect, and “Maidan” is based on the exploits of Syed Abdul Rahim, its pioneer.

So what does this have to do with Ajay Devgn? Actually, Ajay Devgan is going to play the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, and to support him, characters like Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh will be present in this film. Not only this, but the screenplay of this film is written by the duo of Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, who have penned many powerful stories like “Parmanu”, “Neerja” and “Raid”.

Will Maidan fulfil the unfulfilled dream of sports lovers?

The question thus arises: Will Maidan be able to create a new benchmark in Indian sports films? It would be a bit difficult to say because many films have been made in the name of sports drama in India, but everything except sports is discussed in them.

Be it “Azhar”, “Gold” or “Rashmi Rocket”, the game is just a formality; in reality, we have to run our agenda. “83” is an example of how not to make a sports drama. Now everyone is not a Neeraj Pandey who can deliver timeless classics like “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”. But “maidaan” can be an exception. This is because Ajay Devgan has no match when it comes to playing a patient and serious personality.

The kind of life that Syed Abdul Rahim had is perfect for this film. It will be interesting to see how he portrays the golden opportunities from the failure of the Helsinki Olympics to the Melbourne Olympics and then the Jakarta Asian Games in his own style.

Apart from this, the way the music of the Maidaan teaser has increased the curiosity of the audience; if even half of it converts into a successful portrayal, then believe me, on June 23, 2023, “Maidan” will be recorded as a golden chapter in Indian cinema. Will happen, and by releasing it in four languages, Ajay Devgn and Amit Rabindranath Sharma want to prove that, and missing out is not an option here.
