Chup is the best movie of the year

After the Covid outbreak, the Hindi Cinema industry has failed to attain the pre-pandemic level. Films after films are tanking at the box office. The stardom culture has been shredded to pieces.

Around 75% of the Bollywood movies released in the first half of this year, proved to be a monumental disaster.

Amid all of these clouds of doom and gloom, few films have carried Bollywood on their shoulders and saved the Hindi Cinema industry from obliteration.

Evidently, the recent multi starrer film, Chup has all the ingredients to become the best movie in all categories.

Chup dark thriller shines at the Box Office

On National Cinema Day, a huge crowd lined up to witness R Balki directed master class, Chup: Revenge of the Artist. The multi star cast film includes Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles.

With this crime thriller, Sunny Deol has made a remarkable comeback to the 72 mm screen. He has ended his long hiatus from Bollywood with a brilliant performance playing the role of a cop.

The film has received thunderous reception from audiences and film critics alike.

Notably, Chup was amongst the top-ranking films at the advance booking counters. As per Trade Analyst and Film Critic Taran Adarsh, more than 1.25 lakh movie tickets were sold in advance highlighting the strong buzz for the movie. The film is co-produced by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Anil Naidu, Dr Jayantilal Gada (PEN Studios) and Gauri Shinde.

The film, made with an estimated budget of Rs 28 Crores, gained pace on its release day. On the opening day, it did a business of Rs 3.06 crores.

The movie has received 800 screens worldwide and with a positive word of mouth review, the chances has increased exponentially.

Evidently, the same has been witnessed for content driven movies like The Kashmir Files, Sita Ramam and Karthikeya2 among others.

Amid all the big numbers of Brahmastra, it is pertinent to note that if Chup manages to cross Rs 40-45 crore mark, it will be considered a box office hit.

Plot Line and Other aspects of the film

The movie revolves around a psycho killer on the loose who is doing revenge killings for weird reasons. The killer is punishing film critics who are doing injustice with their profession.

The psycho kills them for dishonouring the work of legendary directors, star casts and also for needlessly heaping praise at worthless contents. After the brutal killings, the killer itches star marks on his victims.

The story advances with Sunny Deol roped in as Aravind Mathur, a cop. He tries to investigate the case and find out the motive and killer behind this cycle of killings.

Parallely audiences get to see some romantic tracks between Danny – played by Dulquer Salmaan – and journalist Nila Menon – played by Shreya Dhanwantary. The story, later, has a connection with these serial killings.

R Balki has previously given films like Padman, English Vinglish and Mission Mangal. This film also has his special touch. He has creatively raised several queries in viewers mind and keeps them guessing.

#Chup has a simple message for Bollywood –

Be simple, but BE CREaTIVE! 😏😏

R Balki, Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Paaji should take a bow!

To rate this movie would be to insult it!

— Animesh Pandey (Modi Ka Parivar) 🇮🇳 (@PandeySpeaking) September 23, 2022

The Positive and negatives of the film

The film is a complete roller coaster of a ride which keeps the audience hooked and booked to their seats. The biggest positive of the movie is fabulous work done by the entire acting and directorial team.

All the main leads as well as supporting star casts have done justice with their roles. Among all, Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan shines the brightest.

Coming after a blockbuster romantic hit, he has broken the myth of being a romantic and charming hero. This is his third Hindi film. Earlier, he was seen in ‘Karwaan’ and ‘The Zoya Factor’.

Also Read: From 50 screens to 100 crores and beyond : Kartikeya 2 is a fairytale actually turning true

The film has beautifully ingrained the great works of legendary Indian actor Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone aka Guru Dutt. The film uses iconic songs of ‘kaagaz ke phool’ with great perfection.

The romantic plot doesn’t off guard the audiences and has been creatively utilised in the main narrative.  The breathtaking background music adds intensity and sharpness to the murder mystery.

The pace of the movie slows to some extent in the middle which is not a major issue when the movie has a strong subject and message with an entertaining plot.

The climax of the movie leaves room for improvement and is a little setback to an otherwise near-perfect master piece. The level of gruesome incidents shown in the movie can throw off some people and is not for everyone, specially for kids.

Chup: Revenge of the Artist has many things going in its favour specially for Sunny Deol’s die hard fans who, for a long time, were waiting for him. He has not disappointed his fans and his performance would go among his bests including his iconic “Tareek pe tareek” and “Dhai kilo ka haath”.

The film has broken the drought of the cinema industry, which badly needed fresh quality content to save its image. Barring a few films, Bollywood has suffered multiple set backs this year.

Among the hits, Chup will definitely be the podium position and if it gets positive word of mouth response it may go on to become the best movie of this entire year.

Although, the film is a crime thriller with lot of gory scenes, it has space for little humour at certain moments to ease up the tension.

With strong one liners like, “Cinema is an art not a xerox machine”, the movie has engaging dialogues that stand out and will be remembered for a long time.

The audiences could not stop themselves from quoting few dialogues of the movie, after coming out from the big screen.
