Once again Hamid Ansari stands exposed

Having internal enemies is more heart-wrenching, than the external ones. Time and again, India has exposed various spies, trying to inflict the once-called “sone ki chidiya” through their petty tactics. Hamid Ansari, stands at one such peripheral of betrayal, being the former Vice President of India.

Former Vice President helped terrorists?

Recently, senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala released a statement claiming that Hamid Ansari, had asked him to invite a Pakistani journalist and alleged spy Nusrat Mirza to a seminar on terrorism in 2010. However, the advocate refused to do so.

In the context of, Nusrat Mirza’s interview clip going viral on social media, Adish’s statement holds much more relevance than it would normally do. In the video clip, Nusrat can be seen stating that he attended a conference on terrorism and human rights, which was organized by the International Council of Jurists in New Delhi when the Congress-led UPA government was in power. Adish Aggarwala was the organizer of the ICJ at the time.

Though, the former VP rejected the claims of his invitation to the Pakistani journalist, it is also pertinent to focus on a picture posted by the Advocate. The picture showcases the former Vice President sharing the dais with Nusrat Mirza at an event organized by the Jama Masjid United Front on October 27, 2009.

The allegations surrounding Ansari include the passing of “sensitive and highly classified information” to the Pakistani journalist. On the other hand, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) also claimed that Ansari invited him five times to India during 2005 – 2011. Further, Mirza passed on the collected information to Pakistan’s spy agency, ISI.

History of ex-Vice President

Mohammad Hamid Ansari is an Indian politician and retired diplomat who was the 12th vice president of India from 2007 to 2017. He has been the Permanent Representative of India in the United Nations. In his Diplomatic career, he served as an ambassador to various countries including  Australia, Afghanistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

Even though he spent his career on most of the high profile chairs, his career was no less than a roller coaster ride. He has been the central element in numerous controversies.

As reported extensively by TFI, in 2021, when Zee News anchor Aman Chopra in an interview questioned Ansari about the reason for his statement claiming that “Muslims are insecure in India”, the former Vice President did not give a clear answer. On the other hand, the anchor affirmed that human lynching is not concentrated only on Muslims, several other Hindus are also suffering from it. In response, Ansari said that he is not sure if Hindus are lynched or not.

These statements coming directly from the former Vice President of India point out his biased perceptions. India is a land of pluralism, however, its own VP calling it insecure for a particular community paves a sense of embarrassment for India on the global front.

Ansari failed in his duties

Hamid Ansari has often been accused of failing in his duties of safeguarding India’s national interests. It has been alleged that Ansari aided the Iranian government and its intelligence agency SAVAK, to cause damage to R&AW operations.

In May 1991, a young personal assistant, Sandeep Kapoor, was kidnapped from Tehran airport by Iran’s intelligence agency. He was tortured and drugged for days. But, it didn’t lead Ansari to take this matter to the Iran government. It was further followed by a complaint filed against Ansari for issuing fake visas. In addition, he also failed to take a considerable amount of action when staff members in Tehran were being kidnapped at the behest of the Iranian government.

Even as the protector of India, he is said to have infringed on India’s security concerns and leaked sensitive information. Though Ansari handled one of the most crucial duties in the Indian authoritarian setup, his alleged anti-national activities were no less than backstabbing the land for his own treasure.

Ansari being a congressman

The former Vice President of India, Hamid Ansari, has just carried forward the category of duties that his party has followed time and again. On multiple occasions, Congress has been accused of giving shields and moral support to anti-India elements.

Previously, Congress leaders have been accused of being Pakistan sympathizers. Manishankar Aiyar, a member of the party, once in a televised Pakistani debate, asked for Pakistan’s help in overthrowing the Modi government. Even during those times, the government didn’t retaliate against Pakistani-sponsored terror attacks in India.

Hamid Ansari’s recent expose urges a deep-dived investigation against the anti-India cabal. A democratic and socialistic country cannot risk the lives of its citizens for the sake of any political authority. The matter of national security is paramount and a stringent inquiry should follow its way.
