Cricketer and current captain of the Namibia cricket team, Gerhard Erasmus was born in Namibia on April 11, 1995, in Windhoek, Namibia. In February 2011, when Gerhard Erasmus was 15 years old, Erasmus made his senior debut for Namibia against a visiting Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) team. At age 16, he became the youngest player in the team’s history when he made his first-class and international debuts for Namibia against Ireland in September 2011 during the 2011–2013 ICC Intercontinental Cup.
He was selected for Namibia’s team to compete in the ICC World Twenty20 qualifier in 2012.
