It is a common misconception that, ‘If a lie is repeated a thousand times it becomes the truth’. No it doesn’t, it is the truth that has the privilege of the last laugh. The Hindutva Yuti; BJP and Shiv Sena, was broken on canards and cooked up stories of ‘Equal power sharing’. That seems to be a distant History now. The MVA alliance, formed on the pretext of those lies, has finally been trumped by the truth. As the people mandated – Hindutva Yuti is back in power. This seems to have rattled Former CM Uddhav Thackeray and he seems to be jittery.
“A Promise was made”
A day after the Eknath Shinde government took charge; Former CM Uddhav Thackeray blew his perennial trumpet. He outrightly rejected the fact that a ‘Shiv Sainik’ has been made the new CM. He repeated his cliché about the ‘promise’ he got from BJP stalwart Amit Shah. With his statement, he seemed to be in a deep state of denial about the ideological betrayal. It seemed as if he was caught in his own cobweb of lies, and was lamenting about the lost power.

He said, “The way this (Shinde) government was formed and those (the BJP) who formed the government, they have said that a so-called Shiv Sainik has been made the Chief Minister. Those who did not keep the word two-and-a-half-years back and by back-stabbing (the Sena) again attempts are made to create confusion among the Shiv Sainiks by calling it (Shinde) a Shiv Sena CM, then this is not a Sena CM. There can be no Sena CM by keeping the Sena aside”.
He blamed the BJP for ‘not keeping their promise’. He stressed the point that had BJP kept their so-called promise, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would not have been formed.
He added, “Had everything taken place as decided between me and Amit Shah, the change of power would have been graceful and dignified. And I would not have become the Chief Minister or the MVA would not have been formed”.
“Environmental concern”
He called Eknath Shinde a backstabber and asked him to not backstab the people of Mumbai. He also expressed his displeasure at the new administration’s stand on the Metro Car shed project. He rejected the blame of hindering the development of the state.

He said, “You (Shinde) backstabbed me, but don’t backstab the people of Mumbai. I am saddened by the decision on Aarey metro car shed. Aarey is not a private plot. Trees were killed in Aarey in the middle of the night. I had stayed the construction at Aarey when I took over as CM, but I was not hindering development. I had given Kanjurmarg as an option.”

The rebel Shiv Sena leaders called out the former CM Uddhav Thackeray for not visiting Mantralaya and refraining from going among the general masses.
Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Deepak Kesarkar addressed a Press conference in Panaji. He said that in Eknath Shinde, there is a CM who actually works and can go to any corner of the state. He added,” There’s a Deputy CM who didn’t wonder how he would become the Deputy, being an ex-CM. Both of them have such knowledge and determination that if they come together, they can change Maharashtra.”
Instead of hanging on cooked up stories of the past, former CM Uddhav Thackeray should focus on the present. He should realise the fact that things have gone too far. It is not about the government or CM post anymore. There is a high possibility that the Eknath Shinde may win the claim over Shiv Sena itself.
The former CM should realise that the veil of ‘that story’ was taken off a long time back when to cling on to power, he kept compromising with party ideals and Hindutva ideology. Further, by making a staunch Shiv Sainik as the CM, the BJP has shown its magnanimity.
Additionally, the saffron party, BJP has instilled a confidence in smaller parties within the National Democratic Alliance. BJP has demonstrated that it has no problem in putting the alliance partners ahead.
The former CM should stop nagging about the so-called promise, and must learn an important lesson the hard way that no political party should compromise with its own ideology. In his greed for power he compromised with the party’s core ideology, Hindutva, for which he will pay a heavy price.
