It is a well-known fact that Chinese apps are nothing but a platform for the Chinese Communist Party to spy on other nations. The Wuhan coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath have further exposed the Chinese apps with India leading the way in banning Chinese apps. Now, according to top Intelligence officials, Jack Ma-led Alibaba Servers are stealing the data of Indian users. A massive probe has been ordered into the matter, which will in all probability lead to the banning of Alibaba.
News 18, quoting top Intelligence officials, has revealed that at least 72 India based serves are allegedly sending data of Indian users to China, with the cloud servers of Alibaba group leading the way.
Alibaba’s cloud servers are widely popular in India mainly because of their lower cost as compared to European servers. The fact that Intelligence officials have found Alibaba’s cloud servers stealing data from India and sending it to its home nation, China is likely to get the company in trouble in India.
Intelligence officials have identified 72 data servers operated by Alibaba in India which are involved in sending the data of Indian users to China which is, perhaps, a systematic plan that has been hatched by the Chinese government officials who initially offer free trial usage periods to organisations and after being trapped in the system, the data servers ensure that all sensitive and ancillary forms of data are relayed over to remote servers located in China.
With such incriminating evidence in hand, a “massive probe” is expected to begin on China’s cyber-espionage which is a part of China’s hybrid warfare against India.
India began countering Chinese espionage by dropping the sledgehammer on 59 Chinese espionage apps including Byte Dance owned TikTok, which was followed by the swift action of banning 275 Chinese apps which included the immensely popular PUBG Mobile.
It is important to note that before the ban on PUBG and hundreds of other Chinese apps, the apps were under the radar of the government as the Indian government conducted a review process which included the scrutinisation of 14 different apps from Xiaomi including Zili, AliExpress from Alibaba and Resso and Ulike from Bytedance. Similarly, apps from Meitu, LBE Tech, Perfect Corp, Sina Corp, Netease Games, Yoozoo Global, among others.
As Intelligence officials initiate a probe against Alibaba’s data servers, Alibaba will likely meet the same fate as of TikTok and PUBG.
