In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through Lucknow, Pooja (name changed), a minor girl, has filed a formal complaint against her husband, Mohammad Nazil, and his family, accusing them of heinous acts including rape, physical abuse, forced religious conversion, and coercion into consuming beef. Describing her ordeal as a case of ‘Love Jihad,’ Pooja has provided medical reports and photographs as evidence, urging authorities to take swift and stringent action against Nazil, his brothers Adil and Qadir, and Mohammad Salim Ghazi.
Origins of Abuse
Pooja’s allegations trace back to her high school days, where her friendship with Nazil took a dark turn. She claims Nazil subjected her to relentless physical assaults, attempted rape, and chilling death threats. The abuse escalated on April 4, 2025, when Nazil allegedly attempted to strangle her, leaving her fearful for her life. Pooja further alleges that, while she was still a minor, Nazil raped her and recorded obscene videos, which he later used to blackmail her into marriage. Under duress, she converted to Islam before their wedding on August 18, 2020, in Natuwa, marking the beginning of a prolonged nightmare.
Post-Marriage Torment
The marriage, far from offering respite, intensified Pooja’s suffering. She accuses Nazil of bringing call girls to their home, creating an environment of humiliation and fear. Additionally, Pooja alleges that Nazil’s brothers, Adil and Qadir, attempted to sexually assault her, compounding her trauma. After giving birth to her daughter, Tina (name changed), on January 21, 2022, Pooja took up work to provide for her child, as Nazil reportedly refused to contribute financially and actively opposed her employment, further isolating her.
Forced Consumption and Religious Coercion
Pooja’s allegations paint a disturbing picture of coercion and abuse. She claims Nazil forced both her and her young daughter to consume alcohol and Corex syrup, a cough medication often misused as narcotic. In a particularly distressing accusation, Pooja states that Nazil behaved obscenely toward Tina, her toddler daughter. Furthermore, she alleges that Nazil and his family pressured her to perform namaz and consume beef, actions that violated her personal beliefs. When she resisted, they reportedly confined her and threatened to kill her family if she dared to approach the police.
Silence Amid Vulnerability
The death of Pooja’s father left her family in a vulnerable state, which she says silenced her out of fear for their safety. This vulnerability, she claims, allowed the abuse to persist unchecked for years. However, a particularly violent incident on July 14, 2024, pushed Pooja to come forward. She alleges that Nazil beat her with a walker and strangled her until she lost consciousness, an attack that left her with severe injuries and a renewed resolve to seek justice.
Call for Justice
Now, armed with medical reports and photographic evidence, Pooja has appealed to the authorities for immediate and strict action against Nazil, his brothers Adil and Qadir, and Mohammad Salim Ghazi. Her case has ignited public outrage, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the grave allegations.
As the community awaits an official response from the authorities, Pooja’s courage in speaking outshines a spotlight on the urgent need for justice in cases of abuse and coercion.
