The Indian Navy ship INS Kulish docked at Ream Naval Base in Cambodia on Saturday, marking the latest stop in the Eastern Fleet’s ongoing operational deployment and signaling deepening maritime ties between India and Cambodia.
The vessel was welcomed on arrival by representatives of the Royal Cambodian Navy alongside officials from the Embassy of India in Cambodia, underscoring the diplomatic weight attached to the visit.
During its stay, the ship’s crew will take part in a series of engagements designed to build on the existing naval relationship between the two countries. The programme includes professional interactions between naval personnel, familiarisation visits, sports fixtures, and structured engagements aimed at giving sailors from both navies a chance to exchange expertise and sharpen coordination between the two forces.
Officials framed the port call as part of a broader Indian push to widen its maritime footprint across the Indo-Pacific region. The visit aligns with New Delhi’s Act East Policy and its MAHASAGAR vision — short for Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions — which guides India’s approach to regional security partnerships. It also reflects India’s stated commitment to fostering a maritime environment in the region that remains free, open, and inclusive to all stakeholders.
The stop at Ream is expected to further cement operational familiarity between the Indian and Royal Cambodian navies, building on a relationship that has grown steadily as both countries look to expand cooperation on maritime security in Southeast Asia.
