How low can a party go to win the elections? Well, the answer may depend upon various factors but if it is Congress in question, the lowest can surely be the correct answer. The Curse of its appeasement politics grapples India’s political system with Muslims at the centre of it. Surprisingly, it still continues to do the same even after knowing that it has caused immense injustice to others.
According to the latest report, Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah government is mulling a proposal to provide 4 percent reservation to Muslims in government tenders. If gets approved, this will be the first time such a horrendous provision will be made.
First of all, it must be understood that reservations are so far provided in state-owned institutions in govt tenders are only on a category basis like SC, ST, and OBC.
Secondly, the Constitution of India categorically denies reservation on religious grounds.
Still, Congress and its governments in the state are hell-bent to infringe the law of the land and extend the benefit of the reservation to Muslims. Leaving the legalities and technicalities aside, the question that lingers is how is it even justified to give tenders of roads, buildings, and excavations among others to people just because they are Muslims. What did they do to earn that privilege?
Also, before making efforts for such an illegal move, when was the last time Congress leader Rahul Gandhi opened a copy of the Constitution which he brandishes in poll rallies? By the way, those copies had blank pages, maybe Rahul brigade does not know that providing religion-based reservations is restricted by the law.
However, it is not the first time Congress has unveiled its real and anti-Hindu character. Recently, the All India Ulama Board (AIUB) has written to Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders offering its conditional support in the assembly elections and demanding 10 percent reservation to Muslims in jobs and education. Surprisingly, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has reportedly assured that it will definitely take steps to fulfill the demands if voted to power in Maharashtra.
Earlier this year, the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) shocked the nation when it said that it cited data from the Karnataka government listing all castes of Muslims under OBC in Karnataka ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to grant them reservation benefits.
This was clearly a violation of law as Islam is a religion and is not a caste. Consequently, the entire BJP, from PM Modi to Amit Shah and others came down heavily on Congress’s silent move to deceive the OBC community and transfer their right to the Muslims.
In fact, PM Modi recalled 2011 when the Congress government tried to implement a similar scheme nationwide. It is in fact a Congress agenda that no one could understand at the start. When PM Modi was challenging the inclusion of Muslims in OBC in Lok Sabha elections, Congress released its manifesto titled ‘Nyay-Patra’ which clearly mentioned what Siddaramaiah is examining.
Under the section on minorities, in point 6, Congress promised, “We will ensure that the minorities receive their fair share of opportunities in education, healthcare, public employment, public works contracts, skill development, sports, and cultural activities without discrimination.”
Make no mistake, it is one of the preferential agendas of the Congress party to fulfill any demand of the Muslim community at the earliest only to get the votes. A similar provision in the Congress manifesto is sufficient to say that what Siddaramaiah is thinking is not his decision but a direction from the top brass. Congress will leave no stone unturned to appease the Muslims.
Last but not least, it is now up to the people, who will be impacted by it, to decide on their priorities as Congress and Muslims have already done the same.
