Political economist and commentator on different economic and social issues, Parakala Prabhakar was born in India on January 2, 1959. Between July 2014 and June 2018, he worked as a communications advisor and had a cabinet-level role in the government of Andhra Pradesh. He hosted a current affairs debate program on Andhra Pradesh television networks for a number of years.
Pratidhwani on ETV2 and Namaste Andhra Pradesh on NTV are two of his programs. He was also a former spokesperson for the Praja Rajyam Party and one of its founding general secretaries. Parakala served as the BJP’s representative for Andhra Pradesh during the beginning of the new millennium. He is married to Nirmala Sitharaman, the country’s current union minister for corporate affairs and finance.

In Narsapuram, Andhra Pradesh, Parakala was born into a renowned Telugu Brahmin family. His father, Parakala Seshavatharam, was a longtime legislator who served in three successive Cabinets in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the 1970s and early 1980s. His mother, Parakala Kalikamba, was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Education
The London School of Economics is where Parakala received his doctorate. At Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, he earned his M.A. in arts and his M.Phil. in philosophy.
Relationship
Nirmala Sitharaman, who serves as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs for the Indian Government in the cabinet of Narendra Modi, was married to Prabhakar in 1986. The couple has a daughter.
While attending the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Parakala Prabhakar met his wife Nirmala. There is no information available about their relationship before marriage, apparently, that was a love marriage. At that time he was connected with the congress party and Nirmala was associated with BJP but despite their political differences, they hold a good relationship.
