A few days back, BJP’s star spokesperson Nupur Sharma became the latest target of rabid Islamists who began hurling death and rape threats upon her. Why you may ask? Well, for narrating a mere fact.
She was being globally criticised for narrating a fact. Moreover, the saffron party too distanced itself from her. In the aftermath of manufactured backlash against her controversial comments, BJP decided to hand over a suspension letter to Nupur Sharma.
But, as I said, the truth can never be defeated. Global support has begun pouring in for BJP’s star member Nupur Sharma.
Support pouring in for Nupur Sharma
From OIC nations to Islamists in India and liberals from around the world have criticised Nupur for not mincing her words when stating that if Islamists could insult Hindu symbols, they should also expect to face a counter-reply with the same tone of insult.
However, what she said further was not derogatory but only a fact, and that fact now seems to be recognised by people across the globe. Pakistani-origin journalist Taha Siddiqui tweeted in favour of Nupur. Taha wrote, “Instead of attacking Nupur Sharma and BJP, why don’t you confirm the hadith. Muslim leaders should come forward for this and if it is wrong then it should be removed from Bukhari immediately. So that no one will be able to make fun of it.”
Famous Pakistani-origin writer Tariq Fateh too gave a statement saying Nupur should be provided security.
Earlier, Netherlands MP Geert Wilders had said, “It is very funny that Arab and Islamic countries are furious for Indian leader Nupur Sharma telling the truth about the Prophet. Why should India apologize?”
Moreover, the Dutch politician and member of the Legislature of the Netherlands, too posted a thread of tweets in support of statement of Nupur Sharma. He tweeted, “It is ridiculous that Arab and Islamic countries are angered by Indian politician Nupur Sharma for speaking the truth about the Prophet who indeed married Aisha when she was six years old and consumed the marriage when she was nine. Why does India apologise?”

His tweet further read, “Appeasement never works. It will only make things worse. So, my dear friends from India, don’t be intimidated by Islamic countries. Stand up for freedom and be proud and steadfast in defending your politician Nupur Sharma who spoke the truth about Muhammad.”

The Dutch lawmaker also said that Islamic countries have “No democracy, no rule of law (and) no freedom. They should be criticised. The ideology of Muhammad is offensive and abusive, not the heroic Nupur Sharma.”

Global criticism for Nupur
Notably, Nupur just reiterated whatever was out there in the public domain. In a TV debate, Nupur had said, “Mohammed married a 6-year-old girl and had sex with her at the age of 9.” She had also stated that according to Quran, Earth is flat, which is totally non-scientific.

After her statement, the left-liberal side of the public spectrum had run a vicious campaign against her on social media. Islamists asked for her apology and even threatened her for life. Moreover, to send a clear warning to PM Modi, a riot-like situation was created in Kanpur when both Prime Minister and President Kovind were in the city.
OIC too jumped into the bandwagon of criticising India, and said, “These abuses come in the context of the escalation of hatred and abuse of Islam in India and in the context of the systematic practices against Muslims and restrictions on them, especially in light of a series of decisions banning headscarves in educational institutions in a number of Indian states and demolitions of Muslim property, in addition to the increase in violence against them.”
However, the statements of a Pakistani journalist and Dutch MP came as a huge relief as they are a tight slap to those who were trying to rake up the issue for their political benefits.
