Career
Christian Brothers, Laxmi Rai’s debut release in 2011, was a big commercial success. Her following two films, Kanchana, a comedy horror, and Mankatha, an action thriller directed by Venkat Prabhu and starring Ajith Kumar, were both Tamil movies. In the latter, she played a negative role, which was well welcomed by critics.
Both films were commercially successful. Following Kanchana’s popularity, Laxmi Rai was cast in a Kannada adaptation of the film, Kalpana (2012). Irumbu Kuthirai, Aranmanai in Tamil and Rajadhi Raja in Malayalam were her 2014 flicks.

Recent Works
Bangalore Naatkal and Sowkarpettai were two Tamil films she signed in 2016. She did her second item number alongside Pawan Kalyan in his Telugu flick Sardaar Gabbar Singh after a little hiatus (2016). She made her Hindi cinema debut with Akira.
She agreed to do her fourth item number with Chiranjeevi in his 150th film, Khaidi No. 150 (2017), and later in Tamil with Raghava Lawrence in Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva (2017).
In her second Hindi film, Julie 2, Raai Laxmi played the lead role (2017).
In 2018, she returned to Malayalam cinema with Oru Kuttanadan Blog, starring Mammootty.
In 2019, she starred in the failed horror films Where Is Venkatalakshmi in Telugu and Neeya 2 in Tamil.

Short biography and Career of Laxmi Rai
After director R. V. Udayakumar watched her performance in the Kannada short film Valmiki, Laxmi Rai made her feature debut in the Tamil-language Karka Kasadara in 2005. She went on to star in a number of Tamil films, including Kundakka Mandakka (2005), in which she starred alongside R. Parthiban, Perarasu’s action-masala film Dharmapuri (2006), and the romance film Nenjai Thodu (2007).
In 2008, she began acting in more serious films, including Velli Thirai, a drama in which she played herself, and Dhaam Dhoom, an action thriller directed by Jeeva. Her role of a lawyer in the latter earned excellent acclaim.
Laxmi Rai made her debut in Malayalam in 2007, starring in Rock & Roll, opposite Mohanlal. She followed it up with several successful films.
