After Capt Amarinder, Harish Rawat could split from Congress and start his own party

Congress, India’s Grand old party does not look to be ready for any challenge whatsoever. After Captain Amarinder Singh’s ousting from the party, Harish Rawat has signaled his intention to split from Congress.

Harish Rawat shocks everyone with his unhappy tweet:

Congress star campaigner Harish Rawat shocked the Indian political landscape with his tweet criticising his own party. He later pinned the tweet, which is an indication of the fact that he had written it after a lot of thought process.

Harish Rawat was so much disappointed that he posted a thread of tweets. In the first tweet, he clearly mentioned that his party members were trying to throttle his efforts.

In his second tweet, he said that people at the top of Congress hierarchy had appointed incompetent people to assist him. Fed up with this, he expressed his desire to take a full-fledged rest from his job.

In his last tweet, he expressed his dilemma around the issue. He seemed to be saddened with the fact that he can neither quit nor can he stay in, peacefully.

#Uttarakhand @INCUttarakhand

— Harish Rawat (@harishrawatcmuk) December 22, 2021

Rawat gets mixed reactions from political arena:

The tweets sent shock waves around the electoral landscape. With a few months left for Uttarakhand assembly elections, internal discontent may turn out to be fatal for the party. Top leaders of the party have come out criticizing both Rawat as well as the Congress party.

Manish Tewari posted a tweet in which he chronologically described the decline of Congress in various states. His tweet read, “First Assam, then Punjab, now Uttarakhand.” “Bhog poora hi paun gaye. Kasar na rahe jawe koi,”. He was pointing towards internal discontent leading to the decline of INC in various states.

THEN PUNJAB

NOW UTTRAKHAND…..

Meanwhile, Captain Amarinder Singh, who was humiliated in a similar manner as Harish Rawat, remarked that Rawat is only reaping what he has sown. Rawat was sent to solve Congress’ internal differences in Punjab which had originated due to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s confrontational approach against Captain Amarinder. However, he was unsuccessful, and had to approach the party’s high command to relieve him of Punjab’s duties. Later, Captain also resigned from Congress.

You reap what you sow! All the best for your future endeavours (if there are any) @harishrawatcmuk ji. https://t.co/6QfFkVt8ZO

Chances are slim for Congress in Uttarakhand:

Currently, Pushkar Singh Dhami of BJP is ruling the rooster in Uttarakhand. He has been massively popular due to his handling of Islamists in the state. His attempts of reviving the religious tourism industry have been massively popular as well. In spite of changing multiple Chief Ministers, BJP is still quite popular in the state due to the party’s pro-Uttarakhandi and pro-Hindu approach.

Split in any political organization is not a good sign. Congress party, which is already divided into multiple factions, is facing a huge risk of extinction due to favoritism towards people like Sidhu. If Rawat indeed decides to quit, it could be curtains for Congress Party in the hilly state.

The likes of Capt Amrindar or Rawat are spent forces already. Even if they have or will split from Congress, they may cause a very limited impact on the upcoming State Assemblies or 2024 General elections. Beyond 2024, they would not find themselves playing any useful role in politics. One thing is sure that Congress is disintegrating and nothing can stop that. Biggest concern is who will fill the void when congress is gone. Where will that 25-30% vote share will go? Does any party show the traits of becoming a national player? Or will it be TMC or will it be only the BJP vs the regional parties.

Apart from Congress and BJP,there are no parties in India that has a national base. TMC is a regional party ,although Mamata trying her best to get into national stream. BJP will continue in power and it seems there will not be a replacement for BJP for at least another ten years.
