A day after Twitter acting on behalf of Congress flagged BJP spokesman Sambit Patra’s harmless tweet as ‘manipulated media’, the Union government has pulled the microblogging platform for its dictatorial actions. Slamming Twitter, the Ministry of Electronics and IT demanded that the tag be removed, asserting that it is up to investigative authorities and not Twitter to determine the veracity of the toolkit.

The government has strongly iterated that Twitter cannot pass its judgement while the matter is under investigation. “Such tagging by Twitter appears prejudged, prejudiced and a deliberate attempt to colour the investigation by local law enforcement agency” a source was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
“Ministry of Electronics and IT has further stated in its communication that Twitter unilaterally chose to go ahead and designate certain tweets as ‘Manipulated’, pending investigation by law enforcement agency. This action not only dilutes the credibility of Twitter as a neutral and unbiased platform facilitating exchange of views by the users but also puts a question mark on the status of Twitter as an “Intermediary”,” the source further added.
Reported by TFI, after being exposed for the devious Toolkit that was hatched to defame the Modi government and create an impediment in India’s war against the pandemic — Congress on Thursday wrote a letter to the micro-blogging site asking it to permanently suspend the accounts of BJP leaders including party chief JP Nadda and Union minister Smriti Irani and spokesman Sambit Patra for allegedly “spreading misinformation and unrest in the society”.
We've formally written to @Twitter seeking suspension of Twitter accounts of BJP leaders who are indulging in spreading forged documents attributing to Congress.
While an FIR has already been lodged, the independent fact-checkers too have blown the lid off BJP's propaganda. pic.twitter.com/DeVUO585l3

And like clockwork accuracy, Twitter being a stooge of the left-liberal cabal flagged the tweet of Sambit Patra as manipulated media. In the tweet, Patra had merely accused the Congress party of carrying out PR exercise with the help of “Friendly Journalists” and “Influencers”.
“Friends look at the #CongressToolKit in extending help to the needy during the Pandemic! More of a PR exercise with the help of “Friendly Journalists” & “Influencers” than a soulful endeavour. Read for yourselves the agenda of the Congress: #CongressToolKitExposed,” Patra had posted.

Twitter with its ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude thinks of itself as the judge, jury and the executioner, which has the authority to make unilateral decisions that certainly impinge on an individual’s freedom of speech and liberty – the core tenets that big tech companies claim to be their driving force. However, when it comes to enacting what they preach, the Silicon Valley companies are more often than not found wanting.
