The Mumbai Police has for long been beating around the bush when it comes to investigating the reasons behind Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide, and if there was any kind of foul play at all. The country is almost unanimously resonating with the demand of a CBI inquiry into the death of the film actor, who took his own life last month. Moreover, many have accused the Mumbai Police of not questioning the powerful personalities of Bollywood, who had allegedly made it a life-mission to ruin Sushant Singh Rajput.
Instead, the police have now summoned film actor and staunch-Bollywood cabal critic – Kangana Ranaut. Ranaut, who has been more than vocal about her stand when it comes to the involvement of a select few in ensuring the doom of Sushant Singh Rajput, was served a notice on July 22 to appear at the Bandra police station between 27th to 31st July for questioning.
“In an attempt to understand the reason behind Rajput’s depression, police want some inputs from Kangana Ranaut. Accordingly, we sent a summons to her by post at her residence in Manali on Friday. Police may ask Ranaut to give her inputs about the possible reason behind Rajput’s extreme step,” Mumbai Mirror quoted an official as saying.
However, in what can be termed as a befitting reply by Kangana Ranaut and her counsel, Ishkaran Singh Bhandari said the actor has refused to land in Mumbai only to be questioned by the Mumbai Police, especially at a time when Maharashtra’s COVID-19 situation continues is worsening by the day. Instead, Kangana has offered to answer all questions which the police might have, online. Further, her counsel has also proposed that Mumbai police reach Manali for questioning her, if they deem it so necessary.
Ishkaran Singh Bhandari, in a reply to the notice, said that Kangana will not be able to appear at the police station to record her statement as she is in Himachal Pradesh since March 17, but a police team can either visit her or record her statement via an electronic medium. He also took to Twitter to say, “Mumbai Police had sent a Notice at Ms Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai residence. I have sent reply on her behalf; she is committed to helping in getting Sushant Singh Rajput Justice. Hopefully Mumbai Police will co-operate.”

Calling Kangana Ranaut for questioning, even while the cabal members which she has named continue to be ignored by the police, is an intimidating move against a film actor who has dared to raise her voice against the ‘insiders’ of Bollywood. Whatever Kangana Ranaut has to say about the death of Sushant Singh Rajput is already out in the public domain. As a matter of fact, it might just be more information than what the police require to round up the high and mighty of the industry.
Uddhav Thackery’s management of the pandemic, of course, has made even official visits to Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai, impossible. As such, Kangana Ranaut has truly displayed strength by refusing to be cowed down by police summons, which should have ideally been directed towards the people she has already named and shamed publicly.
