In the run up the 2014 general elections, there was a huge anti-corruption wave in the nation. Riding this wave was Arvind Kejriwal, considered the mastermind behind the Anna Hazare’s anti corruption movement. He was successful in floating his political party. Contrary to the views of Anna Hazare who himself was opposed to giving political colours to the movement. Many political experts cited the limitations in party leadership and experience required to float a successful political outfit. Arvind Kejriwal went ahead with what many term as a move, motivated to cater to his personal political ambitions.
Riding on the back of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement Arvind Kejriwal, had defeated the incumbent CM Sheila Dixit from the New Delhi assembly seat by a huge margin in the 2013 Delhi assembly elections essentially embarrassing the Congress and emerging as the second largest party in the elections. Kejriwal then went on to win Delhi Assembly elections once again in 2015, thereby handing both Congress and BJP embarrassing defeats.
And everything after that was a downhill spiral.
Whatever Kejriwal touched after 2015 turned to mud. Now after the 2019 elections, he has completely lost his political relevance. He lost every LS seat and every state that he wished to break into. The man who started as an anti-corruption crusader and an alternative to Congress begged them to ally with them only to be savagely turned down. Now a picture of his doing the rounds of the internet, inviting a horde of funny reactions and memes. In this pic a docile Arvind Kejriwal is seen humbly urging to Sheila Dixit. Dixit on her part looks stiff as a strict principal, casting her icy cold glance at Arvind Kejriwal.
