The Narcotics Control Bureau has seized 349 kilograms of high-grade cocaine worth ₹1,745 crore in Mumbai. The operation has exposed a wide international drug trafficking network and triggered a stronger push against organised narcotics groups.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the operation a “monumental success”. He also reiterated that the government will dismantle drug cartels. In a post on X, he said authorities are “resolved to ruthlessly crush the narcotics cartel”. He further noted that investigators followed a small consignment, which eventually led them to a much larger network.

Investigation Expands From Small Lead

Officials said the case began with limited input. However, investigators did not stop at the initial seizure. Instead, they followed the supply chain step by step.

As a result, they uncovered a wider network. Moreover, the probe revealed a structured international syndicate. The findings highlight how trafficking groups now operate through layered and cross-border systems.

Fugitive Brought Back Under Global Operation

In a separate development, agencies brought back Mohammed Salim Dola from Turkiye under ‘Operation Global-Hunt’. They detained him after he landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Dola, aged 59, had evaded arrest for years. In addition, he was under an INTERPOL Red Notice issued in March 2024 at India’s request. Investigators say he helped run a drug network across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Long Criminal Record Spanning Decades

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dola has faced narcotics-related cases for over two decades. These cases include seizures of heroin, charas, mephedrone, mandrax, and methamphetamine in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Officials said he worked as a bulk supplier. He supplied drugs to distribution networks inside India. Moreover, agencies said he is wanted by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and Mumbai Police.

In 2025, authorities arrested his son, Tahil Salim Dola, along with associates after extradition from the United Arab Emirates. That action further weakened the network.

Coordinated Action Across Borders

Officials expressed that Dola’s return shows close coordination between Indian agencies, INTERPOL, and Turkish authorities. This cooperation has strengthened efforts against organised crime across borders.

Overall, the Mumbai seizure and related arrests show a clear shift. Agencies are now focusing not only on seizures but also on dismantling entire trafficking systems.
