The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a nationwide Tiranga Yatra from August 10 to 14 across the country with high enthusiasm following the success of Operation Sindoor.
The campaign aims to celebrate India’s military success, honour armed forces and reinforce national unity.
The Yatra will feature placards showcasing India’s indigenous defence capabilities and tributes to fallen soldiers.
As part of the initiative, the national flag will be hoisted on homes and establishments from August 13 to 15. Special events will also include visits to border posts—subject to permission—to honour soldiers stationed there.
A Swachhata Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) will be conducted at war memorials, monuments related to the freedom struggle, and other significant sites across India.
On August 14, the BJP will organise a silent march to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, commemorating the tragic events of India’s partition.
State-level committees comprising one convener and three members are being formed to coordinate the Yatra, with BJP General Secretary Sunil Bansal overseeing the campaign at the national level.
The speeches delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior ministers during the recent Parliament debate on Operation Sindoor will be widely circulated as part of the outreach.
The government had taken an assertive stand in the discussion, with PM Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Home Minister Amit Shah leading the charge.
From the opposition, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Gaurav Gogoi raised sharp questions in the Lok Sabha, while Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge took on the government in the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier, a similar Tiranga Yatra was held from May 13 to 23 to commemorate the successful military strike under Operation Sindoor and demonstrate national unity against terrorism. Senior BJP leaders and state chief ministers led the effort.
Under Operation Sindoor, launched on the night of May 6–7, the Indian Army struck nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, killing around 100 terrorists.
In retaliation, Pakistan initiated a series of attacks, prompting India to destroy several of its air bases. A ceasefire between the two nations was declared on May 10.
In his recent address, PM Modi asserted that India will now engage with Pakistan only on the issues of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and terrorism.
