Punjab Police constable Amandeep Kaur was arrested on Wednesday while possessing 17.7 grams of heroin. Following his arrest, she was dismissed from service the very next day. Her arrest not only exposed her involvement in a narcotics case but also brought attention to her social media presence, where she was seen openly flouting police norms.
However Kaur, who is apprently also an Instagram influencer with more than 30,000 followers, regularly posted reels and photographs showing off luxury vehicles, high-end watches, designer handbags, and branded clothing — several of them in her police uniform.
These acts are direct contraventions of an order from the Director General of Police’s office that prohibits Punjab Police staff from making or posting reels or videos while in uniform. The policy aims to uphold professionalism and restrict unauthorized use of the police emblem.

Many of Kaur’s reels featured popular Punjabi songs playing in the background. Some even contained lyrics that appeared to mock the police force itself. One such reel played a song with the lines: “Tu aankhen tal ja ni kiddan taliye, puthe kamaan vich taan police rali ai,” loosely translating to, “You ask me to stop wrongdoing, but how can I when the police support such acts.”
In another reel, she was seen beside a black Mahindra Thar while wearing her uniform and sunglasses. The song playing in the background included lyrics boasting about her flashy lifestyle, referencing her Thar, a Michael Kors bag containing bullet rounds, and her bold personality.
According to police, Amandeep Kaur was arrested while driving her Thar (registration number PB 05 AQ 7720) near a Bathinda landmark known as ‘Laadli Dhee’ Chowk. The vehicle was impounded, and the heroin was recovered from it. The arrest operation was carried out by a police team led by Bathinda Sadar SHO Anubhav Jain.
Inspector General (Headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward police personnel involved in drug cases. Acting swiftly, Mansa SSP Bhagirath Meena dismissed Kaur from service after following due process.
Gill further confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace Kaur’s assets and properties. If any illegally acquired assets are found, strict legal action will be taken under the relevant laws.
