The Agra Police have dismissed social media claims suggesting that the recent killing of a Muslim man was a revenge attack for the Pahalgam terror incident. In an official statement, authorities clarified that no organization named “Kshatriya Gau Raksha Dal” is active in Agra and urged the public not to circulate unverified information on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram that could hamper the ongoing investigation.
The clarification comes after a viral video surfaced in which a self-styled gau rakshak, Manoj Chaudhary, claimed responsibility for the murder. Chaudhary, in an Instagram post, asserted that the act was revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack. However, police investigations so far have not supported this narrative.
The victim, 27-year-old Gulfam, was shot dead late Wednesday night outside a restaurant on Shilpgram Road in Agra’s Tajganj area. Gulfam, who worked at the restaurant owned by a relative, was standing outside with friends around midnight when three assailants on a scooter approached, asked for their names, and then opened fire. Gulfam was killed, and another youth, Saif Ali, sustained injuries. The attackers quickly fled the scene.

Following the incident, the police registered an FIR at the Tajganj police station and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. CCTV footage from the area is being thoroughly reviewed. A post-mortem examination of Gulfam’s body is underway, with a panel formed to oversee the process. The Agra Police emphasized that none of Gulfam’s companions nor his family mentioned anything indicating a communal or revenge motive during their initial statements. Police teams have been deployed across the area to track down the accused, and officials assured that arrests would be made soon, with necessary legal action to follow. Authorities have appealed to the public to refrain from sharing inflammatory or false content that could mislead the investigation or create communal tension. The case remains under active investigation, and updates will be provided as the situation develops.
