Will promote Love Jihad: Netizens slam Celebrity Masterchef clip with Dipika Kakar

A highly awaited reality show Celebrity MasterChef is soon going to be on air. As the name of the show suggests, Celebrity Masterchef will have contestants who have gained name and fame from across different industries. It is going to be a show where the celebrities will fight each other and eventually a winner will be decided on the basis of his/her cooking skills. In order to mark its coming, promos are being launched in order to boil the excitement among the general public. But in one of the promos of the show which was released on the 7th of January featuring Television actress Dipika Kakar, a Hindu by birth who converted to Islam for Nikah, became the centre of criticism.

In a 30 seconds promo, Dipika Kakar, known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, is seen preparing a Crème Brulee Tart under pressure. Chef Vikas Khanna questions whether she will finish on time, and despite the challenge, she completes the dish successfully. Her effort earns praise from the judges, leaving her teary-eyed. When asked by Farah Khan about her tears, Dipika shares an emotional message about representing homemakers. She expresses pride in standing for women often undermined for their roles at home, highlighting that homemaking is no less significant.

However, her emotional moment drew criticism from some viewers, who accused her of double standards. They argued that she cannot truly represent homemakers and claimed that her tears were merely a tactic to gain public sympathy and secure votes. Netizens highlighted the fact that Dipika Kakar had a successful career but she chose to destroy it by marrying Shoaib Ibrahim and converting to Islam which compelled her to abandon her hard-earned career and made her confined to the four walls of the house.

It must be noted that Dipika who was the main lead of the TV show ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and was earlier married to her former husband Raunak Samson. Soon after divorcing him, her affair with Shoaib Ibrahim started with whom she met at the set of ‘Sasural Simar ka’. After being in a relationship, both got married on 22nd of February, 2018 with Islamic rituals after Dipika Kakar got converted to Islam. Dipika also changed her name to Faiza Ibrahim after converting and leaving the television industry.

A netizen named Vrishchik Rashi with username -@mansi1253 while referring to the promo of Celebrity Masterchef featuring Dipika Kakar wrote, “Dipika Kakar aka Faiza Ibrahim has been very smartly chosen as the contestant of the show MasterChef. She might even be made the winner. Because this is how they will promote LJ and lure more Hindu women by glamorizing Dipika’s lifestyle.”

Dipika glorifies patriarchy, religious conversion, regressive rituals and blowing into her failure of a husband for nothing while her in-laws leech onto her.

All this was a choice she made.

She doesn’t represent SAHW. She’s weak, insufferable, spineless and a people pleaser. https://t.co/anBKZBNiMW

Another twitter user Noor Faraz Fatmi (Username-@Noorfarazfatmi) pointed out that the life choices of Dipika Kakar are not in sync with the words she is throwing at the reality show. She stated that if Dipika wishes to champion women’s causes, she should lead by example instead of giving up her independence and identity for a man.

I’m fed up with Deepika Kakar’s hypocritical remarks! She abandoned her successful career, her name, and even her religion for the sake of marriage. And what did she do after that? “I’m fed up with Deepika Kakar’s hypocritical remarks! She abandoned her successful career, her name, and even her religion for the sake of marriage. And what did she do after that? She reduced herself to being a stay-at-home wife, delivering babies, cooking, and making reels on social media. And now, she has the audacity to claim that “auraton ko dabaya jata hai” (women are oppressed) with crocodile tears? Give me a break! Who is she trying to fool? Her own life choices contradict her words. She willingly gave up her independence, career, and identity for a man. And now, she’s pretending to be a champion of women’s rights? Sorry, Deepika, but your words ring hollow. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to advocate for women’s empowerment, then lead by example. Show us that you’re willing to stand up for your own rights and independence, rather than just using them as a convenient narrative to garner sympathy” she wrote.

Dipika Kakkar crying about how society is unfair to women and trying to portray herself as a feminist and a voice for women is ironic. She converted and changed her name just to marry her bf 🤭
Woman, if you couldn’t stand up for yourself, please stop this performative activism…

— Aditi. (@Sassy_Soul_) January 7, 2025

Another user Aditi walked along the same path of bashing Dipika for her hypocrisy. She wrote, “Dipika Kakkar crying about how society is unfair to women and trying to portray herself as a feminist and a voice for women is ironic. She converted and changed her name just to marry her bf. Woman, if you couldn’t stand up for yourself, please stop this performative activism.”

The Celebrity MasterChef show Features stars like Gaurav Khanna, Tejasswi Prakash, Nikki Tamboli, Abhijeet Sawant, and Dipika Kakar. The show is hosted by Farah Khan with Chef Vikas Khanna and Chef Ranveer Brar as judges.
