Sehore Ganesh Mandir – Guide

Chintaman Ganesh is an ancient holy and biggest Lord Ganesha temple in Ujjain. Since Sehore Ganesh Mandir is the temple of Lord Ganesha, people seek his blessings to start any new or auspicious work. This temple is built across the Kshipra river on the Fatehabad railway line. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is considered the Lord of beginnings according to Hindu beliefs.

History of this Temple

About 2000 years ago, the king of Ujjayani used to worship Lord Chintaman Ganesha every Wednesday at the fort of Ranthambore. One day Lord Ganesha appeared in the king’s dream and said, “I will appear in the form of a lotus flower at the Shiva-Parvati confluence in the Sivan river, 10 to 15 kilometers west of the temple. Collect those flowers from there and bring them with you.
