After insulting Bhagwan Ram, Congress circles back to “Soft Hindutva”

Elections are due for several state assemblies including Gujarat and Karnataka. As usual, the nation will witness last moment so called “change of hearts” and a grand show of opportunism by politicians in the run up to these elections. The same is quite visible in the acts and deeds of Congress leaders. After leaving no stone unturned in insulting Bhagwan Shri Ram and Sanatan Dharma, Congress is using “Soft Hindutva” as its last recourse.

5th August a black day for Congress?

On 5th of August, the whole nation was marking the anniversaries of two historic decisions – abrogation of Article 370, 35A and commencement of construction of Ram Mandir. On this historic day, Congress, strategically, protested throughout the nation in black attire. They staged a nationwide protest against the government on several issues including price rise and unemployment. However, the party faced massive backlash from the public and saffron party, BJP. BJP attacked the Congress left, right and centre for strategically choosing 5th of August for the protest and its appeasement tactics.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah lambasted the Congress and exposed their appeasement politics. He categorically pointed out that Congress had been protesting in normal dress but on a historic day they wore black clothes. He linked the protest to the foundation of Ram Mandir laid by PM Modi on the very historic day. He accused that through this protest, Congress wanted to subtly give a message of appeasement politics.

He said, “I can’t understand why they protested today. Every day when they protested, they used to wear their usual normal dress but today they wore black clothes. Congress chose this day for protest and wore black clothes because they want to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics because on this day itself PM Modi laid the foundation of Ram Janambhoomi”.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath condemned this protest by the Congress party. He termed it as an insult to Ram Bhakts. He too linked the ‘black’ protest of Congress with Ayodhya Diwas a historical date when construction of Ram Mandir had began. He went further and asked Congress to apologise to the nation for its act.

He said, “Till now, Congress was protesting in normal attire but today they protested wearing black clothes. It’s an insult to Ram Bhakts. They chose this day as today’s Ayodhya Diwas which marks the beginning of construction of Ram Janmabhoomi.”

He added, “Such acts of the Congress party have insulted the faith of India. Congress’ attitude has insulted Ayodhya Diwas along with insulting India’s democracy and judiciary. We condemn such acts of the party.”

“Soft Hindutva”: Saviour for Congress?

When the criticism for the ‘black protest’ became unbearable, Congress resorted to Soft Hindutva. It started chanting Shri Ram name. Congress General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a devotional tweet. In her tweet she added that she is following the path of beloved Shri Ram which is to fight against the impact of inflation on the poor and middle class. She emphasised that those who misrepresent agitation against inflation insult Bhagwan Shri Ram.

भये प्रकट कृपाला दीन दयाला

सो मम हित लागी, जन अनुरागी
प्रकट भये श्रीकंता

— Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (@priyankagandhi) August 5, 2022

In her tweet, she said, “The one who inflicts pain on the weak by increasing prices, attacks Lord Ram. The one who misrepresents those agitating against inflation, insults Loknayak Ram and the people of India”.

— Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (@priyankagandhi) August 5, 2022

Isn’t it ironic? Congress is the same party which denied the existence of Shri Ram in courts and now it is chanting Ram Naam. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had in the past termed temple devotees as molesters. Congress politicians tried everything possible to stall the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi case in the Supreme Court. Even now, this strategic protest in black clothes on a historic day of 5th August had hurt the sentiments of many Hindus.

Congress leaders have been notorious for being inimical to the interest of Hindus. Ironically, they are now trying to project themselves as staunch Hindus. They are adapting the shallow election strategy called “Soft Hindutva”. Not just the tweet of Priyanka Gandhi, her brother too is deploying this tactic. In Karnataka he went to mutts to seek guidance from Lingayat gurus.

Also Read: Rahul Gandhi is dancing to BJP’s tunes, gets ‘deeksha’ at Lingayat mutt

However, such tactical shifts in the run up to election have earned them the moniker “Chunavi Hindu”. This seasonal ‘Ram Bhakti’ has been exposed in the past as well and the ‘new’ Ram Bhakts will not be able to fool anyone anymore.

It again proves that the visionary leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was right from the very beginning.  His prophecy that one day Congress leaders will wear janeu (sacred thread) over their jackets, in lieu of winning elections, is coming true.
