The grand fall of Digvijaya Singh – From controlling the narrative to controlling collars

Time never remains the same. The roller coaster political journey of Digvijaya Singh is an apt example of this. At one time he commanded absolute control over the political narrative. In his prime, he was one of the main ‘villains’ who peddled the abhorrent, irrational Hindu/Saffron terror theory. But now, karma has come back to haunt his political career. He is just reduced to being a cause of mockery for himself and his party, Congress. The Former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh is facing political oblivion which is making him go berserk. He seems to have lost his temper and rationality. Derogatory, obnoxious and outright ridiculous statements from him have become a norm. The latest drama and outburst hints at his frustration with his dilapidated political career. With such misdemeanours, he seems to be acting no less than a street thug.

Venting anger on Police Officials

Congress party performed poorly in the recently concluded local body elections in Madhya Pradesh. This loss didn’t go down well among its party cadres and senior leaders. As usual, instead of finding the causes for the humiliating loss, party leaders started making excuses and venting their anger against anybody and everybody. The party cadre led by senior party functionaries and leaders scuffled with the Police officials.

In a disgraceful act, Congress MP Digvijay Singh was seen pushing and manhandling the Police personnel. The Senior Congress leader crossed every line of political decency and civility. Digvijay Singh held one Policeman by his collar and disrespected the uniform. The video of this shameful act was caught on camera and it soon became viral.

Public and netizens started condemning this ‘thuggery’ against the Police officials. The ruling party, BJP, lambasted the former CM Digvijay Singh for manhandling the Police officials and forcefully trying to breach the Collectorate office.

Condemning this disgraceful behaviour, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan took Digvijay Singh to the task. He categorically pointed out that no one has the right to do such a disgraceful act.

As per ANI, He said, “Such indecent behaviour doesn’t suit an ex-CM. Digvijay Singh holds a Police man by his collar, shouts and attempts to breach Collectorate Gate. It’s disrespectful. Wins and Losses continue in a democracy. But who gave the right to hold a cop by his collar? I condemn this.”

MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also attacked the Congress party and its high command Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

He added, ” He (Digvijay Singh) holds a policeman by his collar. I want to ask Sonia Gandhi whether she supports this? Has Rahul Gandhi asked to do so? The kind of politics Congress is doing in the state has never happened. I condemn it. ”

Back-to-back losses adding to the Frustration, coupled with a Sense of Entitlement

On Friday, 29th July, BJP registered a massive success in the local District panchayat elections. Out of 52 districts in the state, 51 districts went to the polls. District Panchayat election in Sidhi could not take place following a High Court order. The saffron party, BJP, claimed that the saffron party supported candidates registered victory in 41 district panchayats. The principal opposition party performed dismally. 10 Congress-supported candidates managed to secure a victory in a ‘saffron wave’ election.

Such back-to-back thrashing at the hands of the “saffron” party is making Congress MP Digvijaya Singh jittery. It seems he is finding it hard to digest that his cruel politics of itching Hindu/Saffron terror failed miserably, which was always inevitable (Satyamev Jayate). Even after all his cruel tactics to tarnish Hinduism and associate it with unthinkable terror charges, he could not bury the truth and could not keep reaping political benefit out of that false ‘criminal’ narrative.

That is why he can’t withstand the fact that he no longer has the power to do things at his will. Digvijay Singh seems to feel frustrated to no longer be able to Kowtow Police officials at his command. It seems that he thinks he can keep doing such misdemeanours without any consequences. In which case, he is again wrong as he has been on multiple occasions. He is no longer Royal Highness and people are not their subservient who will any longer accept falsehoods, canards or such thuggery. His political time is up and that is a fact. So, he should shun attempts to change the narrative because he no longer can do this now.
