The left-liberal cabals of the Indian polity have often been the credit stealers for various developmental projects initiated by the Central government. Rahul Gandhi also seems to follow them. He has once again laid down a stealer’s footprint to maintain the legacy of the Congress party.
A central government scheme comes to the rescue of Rahul Gandhi
On July 3, the Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the Ambalappadi-Malappuram-Kottapadi Road in Kerela. It was built at Karulai Town, Malappuram, which falls under Wayanad, his parliamentary constituency, in Kerala. While in reality, the road was constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The issue came into the limelight after a tweet from Congress’s official handle saying, “Adding one more milestone in the journey towards the development of Kerala, Shri Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the Ambalappadi-Valamppuram-Kottanpara road built under PMGSY at Karulai Town, Karulai Grama Panchayat, Nilambur LAC, Malappuram today.”

It’s now an open secret that the Congress party is unable to develop its own constituency. The opposition party is continuously maintaining its undemocratic conduct in serving the countable number of people. Apart from this, the consistent spirit of the party to compare itself with PM Modi is apparently commendable.

Congress’s legacy of false claims
It’s not the first time that Congress is claiming unearned credit. Even while turning the antiquity of nearly 70 years of its rule, the party didn’t contribute much to the development of India but has always been at the forefront when it comes to taking credit.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the entire world was struggling with availing of vaccines, the Indian government started the drive of vaccinating children between 15 – 18 years of age. Yet again, the Congress party was unable to be patient amid the praise of the central government. And once again, its leader Rahul Gandhi poked in by saying that the government has “accepted my suggestion”.
Earlier in 2017, the congress party falsely claimed that the cutting down of GST rates was a result of its stand made on the issue. However, it’s pertinent to note that the GST council is not under them, the then Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had affirmed.
The Congress party has often been vulnerable in figuring out the developmental efforts to name it under them. But nothing came out of their treasure, and thus they landed at the central government’s door for humility. Unsurprisingly, it has once again knocked on the doors of the Central government for its rescue.
PMGSY Scheme is the brainchild of Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Take, for example, PMGSY Scheme. Rural road connectivity is still a cause of concern in India. Easy connectivity among villages aids the government functionaries such as healthcare workers and teachers to expand their services to every nook and corner of the country. This will ultimately contribute to the development and overall prosperity of the nation.
In the wake of filling this gap in society, the government came up with a scheme called Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in December 2000, during former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure. The scheme provided the construction of all-weather roads that can be used throughout the year in all seasons. PMGSY is a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme.

As per the latest statistics of PMGSY, with the continuous efforts of PM Narendra Modi, the scheme has completed a total of 1,70,415 road works and has finished 7,10,274 Kms in length. However, the new connectivity works account for 1,19,419. Apart from this, currently, there are 13,369 road works that are in progress.
With the guidance of PM Modi, the PMGSY Scheme improved hundreds of lives who were deprived of easy connectivity, especially in times of emergency. Not only this, the scheme evidently came to the rescue of Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi.
The plight for getting credit emerges from the harsh realisation that Congress has been displaced from the power circles. And thus, it is making the party vulnerable to finding a roof for itself.
Nevertheless, the Indian government never leaves anybody disappointed. Thus, taking credit for the PMGSY Scheme might have acted as a lollypop for the leftists, who otherwise have an empty box of achievements.
