Varma made his directorial debut in 2011 with the short film Deenamma Jeevitham. After that, he made a few short films, such as A Silent Melody (2014) and Dialogue in the Dark, and directed commercials (2017). Short biography of Prashanth Varma
Technically, Mahalakshmi was his debut movie. Mahalakshmi was postponed and delayed numerous times as a result of production problems and creative disagreements. It was confirmed in September 2017 that Tamannaah would collaborate on the Neelakanta-directed Telugu version of the movie. On November 2, 2017, production commenced. However, Neelakanta departed the movie in January 2018 and was replaced by Prashanth Varma. The film has not yet been released as of 2022.
