Gulshan Devaiah Biography and Career

Gulshan Devaiah is an Indian actor who is most known for his work in Hindi cinema. Shaitan, Hate Story, and Hunterrr are among Devaiah’s most well-known roles. He was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his portrayal in Shaitan, which received critical acclaim. In this article we are going to talk about the biography, career, notable works, films and family of Actor Gulshan Devaiah so read the article till the end.

Gulshan Devaiah began his acting career in 2010 with Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah in Anurag Kashyap’s short film That Girl in Yellow Boots. Following the Toronto International Picture Festival, the film was shown at the Venice Film Festival. In the film, he played the part of Chitiappa.

Dum Maaro Dum and KC (2011)

In 2011, he played Ricky in Rohan Sippy’s crime thriller Dum Maaro Dum, which also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Prateik Babbar. In the same year, Devaiah starred as Karan Chaudhary “KC” in Bejoy Nambiar’s Hindi thriller Shaitan, which also starred Rajeev Khandelwal and Kalki Koechlin. The film was a critical and commercial success when it was released in June 2011, and Devaiah’s acting was praised.

Hate Story

Gulshan Devaiah starred alongside Paoli Dam in Vivek Agnihotri’s sensual thriller Hate Story, which was produced by Vikram Bhatt. This was his first leading role, in which he played Siddharth Dhanrajgir, the brash son of a rich business magnate. The picture went on to become a sleeper smash, receiving favourable reviews from critics. Bollywood Hungama’s Taran Adarsh gave the film a 3/5 rating and called Devaiah’s performance “great.”

Peddlers and Ramleela

In the same year, Gulshan Devaiah co-starred with Nimrat Kaur in Vasan Bala’s crime drama Peddlers, in which he played Ranjit D’souza, a 20-year-old lad who becomes caught up in the drug trade. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received mixed reviews.

In 2013, Devaiah played Bhavani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic-tragic drama film Ram-Leela, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The film was a ‘blockbuster’ that year.

After a year off, Devaiah returned in 2015 to co-star with Radhika Apte in Harshavardan Kulkarni’s adult comedy Hunterrr, in which he played Mandar Ponkshe, a sex-addicted man chronicling his passionate journey. The movie was a success at the box office.

Gulshan Devaiah is a NIFT graduate who was born on May 28, 1978, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

He is the son of Bharat Electronics Ltd employees Sri Devaiah and Pushpalata. Cluny Convent and St Joseph’s Indian High School were his primary schools.

He secured jobs in the fashion sector after graduating from NIFT, where he worked for ten years. He also taught fashion to Bangalore students at Wigan and Leigh College.

Gulshan Devaiah also appeared in Vivek Agnihotri’s film Junooniyat in 2016, as an NRI.

Cabaret, A Death in the Gunj, and CandyFlip were the three films Devaiah signed in 2017. In the action-comedy film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, he played twin brothers Karate Mani and Jimmy.

In the action film Commando 3, he played Buraq Ansari. He starred in the Amazon Prime drama series Afsos and the Netflix original film Ghost Stories in 2020.

Gulshan Devaiah was nominated for a number of prizes, including Filmfare Awards, Screen Awards, Stardust Awards, and Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards for Best Male Debut and Best Actor in a Supporting Role, as well as various ensemble characters.

For Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, he received a Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
