People have realised the huge loss we have suffered because of the Macaulian style education. Hence, efforts for indigenisation of the Indian education system have started in the country. For this many BJP-ruled states are pushing for the introduction of dharmic education in school curriculums.
Vedas, Spiritual and Dharmic Knowledge
The Uttarakhand government is soon going to free the students from the clutches of Macaulian education. It has announced that it will soon implement the new National Education Policy (NEP). The necessary changes will be made in the school curriculum and it will now include dharmic knowledge like the Vedas, the Gita and the Ramayana. This will help in bringing the students closer to their civilisational and spiritual roots. The school syllabus will also include the history of the hilly state, Uttarakhand.
The announcement was made by the Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. As per ANI he said, “The National Education Policy will be implemented in the upcoming session. We will be including Vedas, Gita, Ramayana and the history of Uttarakhand in the syllabus after taking suggestions from the public and consulting the academicians”.

Coherence between BJP-ruled states
Recently, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced to introduce ‘Shrimad Bhagwad Gita’ as a subject in class 9 to 12. Addressing a ‘Jan Manch’ the state education minister Govind Singh Thakur said that the decision was taken to acquaint students with their culture and give them moral strength. The Shrimad Bhagwad Gita will be taught in two languages – Hindi and Sanskrit.

The Gujarat government on March 17 notified that they will be introducing Shrimad Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus for classes 6-12 from the academic year 2022-2023. The state circular stated, “There should be Shlokas recitation, essay, paintings, essay, quiz competition, etc. on Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. The syllabus should be printed with audiovisuals,”
The UP government led by CM Yogi Adityanath too has been working for the revival of vedic knowledge in the state. To bring the young generation closer to the vedic and dharmic knowledge in a fun way, the UP administration is opening a Vedvan park in Sector 78 based on teachings of four Vedas. Moreover, UP CM and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat attended the Bharatama Ashok Singhal Vedic Award. The award is to applaud the work of teachers and students in the sphere of Vedic literature.

For too long the nation has continued on with the Macaulian education system. It is good to see that many states, especially the BJP-ruled ones, are working hard to revive Vedic literature, teach young minds spiritual and dharmic education like the Ramayana, Vedas and Shrimad Bhagwad Gita. Through these steps the mind of the new generation will be freed from the colonisian mindset of the Macaulian system. The steps of Uttarakhand and other like minded states will help in bringing the much needed change in the mindset and will truly be helpful in bringing back the lost glory.
