Is “the Kashmir Files” the only movie to receive government support? Apparently not

Ever since its release, ‘The Kashmiri Files’ has been in the limelight. The nationalists are praising Vivek Agnihotri for such a brave depiction of the truth and on the other side left-liberal cabal is having a hard time accepting the truth and thus is criticising the movie. Well, it is not only nationalists and right-wing activists who have extended their support to the movie and its makers, PM Modi along with many other BJP leaders has come out to promote the stark truth.

But, is it the first time that any government has openly endorsed a movie? Witnessing the records, the answer is no.

NDTV author Srinivasan’s meltdown after govt stands with the truth

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri shows how academia in India has been infiltrated by far-left hooligans who lie through their teeth about Kashmir. The film exposes the hypocrisy of such specimens by showing how they remain indifferent to the plight of Kashmiri Pandits, who, unlike Kashmiri Muslims, are victims of genocide.

Therefore, when liberals lost their minds after the film hit the big screen, it did not come as a surprise.

However, the central government is being criticised by many for supporting the movie. The left-liberals are also questioning the government for making the film tax free in BJP ruled states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana.

Jumping into the bandwagon, NDTV’s senior journalist Srinivasan Jain has also begun slamming the government for endorsing the movie. He took to Twitter to indirectly attack the government and tweeted, “Genuine q: can anyone recall the last time the Indian state threw its entire weight in promoting a privately produced movie while using it to target its political opponents?”

Genuine q: can anyone recall the last time the Indian state threw its entire weight in promoting a privately produced movie while using it to target its political opponents?

— Sreenivasan Jain (@SreenivasanJain) March 15, 2022

The NDTV journalist intended to portray that no government before BJP has openly promoted a privately produced movie.

Getting the facts straight

Soon after Srinivasan attempted to present a fake narrative, a Twitter user named Vikrant schooled him for the same. In response to Srinivasan’s propaganda tweet, Vikrant informed, “1980 – PM Indira Gandhi financed ($7 Million) to Richard Attenborough for making the Movie Gandhi. The Script was especially vetted by the I&B ministry. The idea was to capture the Indian mind with Gandhism & glorify the role of Congress in the freedom struggle. We are still paying for it…”

Well, the credentials of the movie also vindicate that the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) was one of the producers of the movie ‘Gandhi’.

For those unversed, the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), headquartered in Mumbai, is the central agency responsible for promoting Indian cinema since 1975.  It comes under the Government of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and deals with film financing, production, and distribution.

According to the reports, the film’s co-producer Rani Dubey had asked PM Indira Gandhi to give 10 million dollars from the National Film Development Corporation of India. Produced and directed by Attenborough, the film hit the screens in India on 30 November 1982.

If the reports are something to go by, the two attempts to make the film ‘Gandhi’ had already failed. First, it was failed due to the death of Pascal in 1954. Later, through Louis Mountbatten, Richard Attenborough who dreamt of making a project on ‘Gandhi’, met the then Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi in the year 1962. Then, Nehru assured to raise funds for it but the film could not be made as Nehru passed away in the year 1964.

Finally, after 20 years, Indira Gandhi raised funds for the movie and openly endorsed the film.

Liberals are so desperate to attack PM Modi led government that they even resort to fake news to peddle their propaganda.
