After the advent of the internet, only a few things are considered credible by common people. One of them is statistics. However, fake farmers seem to be on a mission to degrade this as well. Their data on claims of 700 farmers’ death in farmers’ protest is now being questioned. An analysis of the Metadata is revealing something else.

A Meta-analysis of data

Erstwhile protestors are now demanding compensation from the Modi government for the death of 700 people due to the alleged farmers’ protest. Farmers’ Union has prepared the list of all who died and it is now being circulated by the likes of Rahul Gandhi and other Congress supporters.

Vijay Patel, founder of @OnlyFactIndia has come up with a sensational breakdown of all data produced by people engaged in farmers’ protest. He fact-checked all those claims and found that majority of deaths had nothing to do with farmers’ protest.

A Super Exclusive Thread That You Should Not Miss

1. Decoding propaganda of '700-750 farmers died in farmer protest' claim

There are so many fact-checkers in India. But, none of them had fact-checked this claim.

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

Astounding findings in Meta-analysis

The key findings are as follows:

  • Out of 733 deaths reported by farmers’ union, only 702 had basic information attached with their names.

6. This claim is fake. The list, which was prepared by farmer unions has 733 names. I have found that only 702 names have basic information. So I have analyzed the 702 names and found that list is full of propaganda.

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

  • Most of the deaths had happened due to reasons totally unrelated to farmers’ protest and the Modi government’s alleged mismanagement.
  • The reasons include natural deaths, Covid-19, Hit and Run, Accidents, murders, drownings, falling from trains etc.

7. Deaths in this list are a mixture of natural deaths, Corona, Hit and Run, Accidents, murders, etc…

Here are the data

Locations of deaths were as per below table pic.twitter.com/3mJjMP7Cnn

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

Correlation has been passed off as causation

According to Vijay, only two reasons for death are in correlation (correlation, not the causation) with the protest sites. One of them is illness caused at the protest site, while the other is accident while making sure that they participate in the protests. One of them died in a road accident on his route to the site, while the other person died when he fell from the train returning from a protest site.

8. People who had returned to their homes and died there have their names on this list. pic.twitter.com/9o2YaVVOJP

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

9. People who were died while traveling to the protest. And people who were died while returning from the protest also have their names on the list! pic.twitter.com/67ooUmj96v

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

Out of 702 deaths, 341 died from illness, 207 from heart attacks, 78 died in accidents, while 12 died from covid as well. 11 died in Hit and Run, 3 were murdered, while 39 allegedly died from suicide. The data around suicide is hazy as well since Vijay produced photos of a suspicious suicide in his analysis.

Age and Occupation analysis suggest that poor and old people were misused

Vijay’s demographical analysis of death also presents an interesting story. Apparently, his analysis suggests that 618 farmers had died, which means that it was the farmers’ Union was the main reason behind their deaths.

18. Also, see the occupation of the people whose names have in this list. pic.twitter.com/wQtpoEysfN

— Vijay Patel🇮🇳 (@vijaygajera) January 12, 2022

Similarly, more than 57 percent of those who died belonged to the age group of 51 and up. It means that old age people, a protected class of the society were used for political propaganda. Moreover, more than 22.5 percent of those who died fall in the age group of 31-50; an age in which they have to shoulder the responsibilities of their own families.

20. They have misguided and forced elder people to take part in these protests in the middle of the pandemic.

Opposition has been demanding for compensation

Ever since the farm laws have been repealed, the opposition and the protesting farmers union have been questioning the government if the Centre intends to provide financial assistance to the families of those who died during the protest.

In his letter to Lok Sabha, Manish Tewari, Senior Congress had said, “The government should create a record of farmers who lost their lives protesting the farm laws and give compensation to their families”.

Statistics are pillars of modern democracies. They help to circumvent the maze of haziness caused by human’s emotional reactions to problems. These so-called farmers have already diluted their name and fame for their own self-interest. Now, Vijay’s analysis suggests that they have faked the deaths of people as well. If one can fake death, it’s not hard to guess how much dirt is hidden in the closet.
