Liberals, Communists, Islamists and their allies have a perpetual disease. According to these degenerates, correcting blatantly false history is tantamount to nothing short of “saffronisation”. What these extremists often forget, however, is the fact that what they refer to as ‘history’ is nothing but propaganda and a whitewash of criminalities conducted against Hindus, mostly. In the Indian context, the crimes of Islamists are usually given an incredible spin by liberals and their charlatan-like historians. The Moplah massacre of Hindus by radical Muslims, for instance, was turned around and portrayed as a peasant uprising against a feudal system controlled by the Hindu elite. And today, liberals are defending the massacre.
What did the Moplah “peasant uprising” of 1921 entail? It included the killing of 10,000 Hindus, the fleeing of 100,000 Hindus out of Kerala, the destruction of 100 Hindu temples and the conversion of an unaccounted number of Hindus at the hands of Muslim fanatics who like to think of themselves as Arabs in India. Gen. Abercromby of Bombay, who was in Kerala in the run-up to the anti-Hindu Moplah genocide of 1921 said, “Mappilas are fanatic Muslims who are also treacherous by nature. From the repeated treachery and notorious infidelity of the whole Mappila race, rigid and terrifying measures have become indispensably necessary. Lenity (towards the Moplah muslims) has been found ineffectual.”
The Communists have given the Hindu massacre a different spin. The Congress, meanwhile, playing second fiddle to the Communists, has sought to defend their spin, and instead, pin the blame of the massacre, on Hindus. Of course, the nationalists have always seen right through the Communist-Congress nexus and called out the Moplah massacre for what it was – a targeted campaign to eliminate Hindus from Malabar.
The Communists
In 1971, the communist government in Kerala led by chief minister Chelat Achutha Menon elevated Moplahs to the status of ‘freedom fighters’ overnight. The CPI-M did not once shy away from falsely declaring that it was, in fact, ten thousand Moplah Muslims who were killed during the ‘rebellion’. The present Left Front government’s project, according to senior RSS leader Ram Madhav, is to project Moplah villains as heroes using the massacre’s centenary as an opportunity.
The present-day CPI(M) government of Kerala, led by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan is also looking to include the historic sites in the Malappuram district that witnessed the Malabar Mappila ‘Rebellion’ of 1921 in the state’s tourism map. On August 20, Kerala Assembly Speaker M B Rajesh had equated the leader of the anti-Hindu massacre, Variyankunnath Kunjahammed Haji with Bhagat Singh and claimed that he was a secular leader who refused to tender an apology to the British and chose martyrdom over deportation to Mecca. Leftist historians in the state continue to wrongly argue that the Malabar ‘rebellion’ should be seen as a peasant struggle against the Hindu feudal landlords in the region.
Communists have projected the Moplah massacre as an agrarian uprising of peasants against Savarna landlords. This is a blatant lie. Most people killed during the massacre belonged to “lower castes”. Not even a single Muslim landlord was killed.
The Congress
The Indian National Congress has a rather flagrant history of discounting the severity and anti-Hindu nature of the ‘Moplah rebellion’. Mahatma Gandhi, for instance, argued, “Hindus must find out the causes of Moplah fanaticism. They will find that they are not without blame.” He went on to say, “Forcible conversions are horrible things. But Moplah bravery must command admiration. These Malabaris are not fighting for the love of it. They are fighting for what they consider is their religion and, in the manner, they consider is religious.” That’s not the end. Gandhi added, “Even so is it more necessary for a Hindu to love the Moplah and the Muslim more, when the latter is likely to injure him or has already injured him.”
National Herald – the Congress party’s mouthpiece, in an article titled, “RSS on a mission to disparage the glory of peasant movements to propagate its communal agenda,” claimed, “Colonial India had witnessed two major peasant movements. The Malabar rebellion, which is also known as the Moplah movement of Kerala, and the Titumir struggle of Bengal. Incidentally, the leaders of both the movements were Muslims.The Malabar rebellion was an armed revolt staged by the Mappila Muslims against the British authorities and their Hindu allies in 1921.”
Last month, senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP K Muraleedharan said the Malabar rebellion was part of the Khilafat movement against British colonialists and accused BJP leaders of portraying its leader, Kunhahammad Haji as communal.“Although sometimes it had deviated from its path, one cannot blame its good intention,” Muraleedharan said. The killing of thousands of Hindus was nothing more than a ‘deviation’ and aberration in an otherwise noble campaign.
Islamists
Islamists are proud of the 1921 Moplah massacre of Hindus. They have no qualms about it, and if recent indications are anything to go by, they are ever-ready to carry out a similar massacre once again.
In February this year, the 1921 Moplah massacre was re-enacted by the Popular Front of India, that is the PFI and its Islamist activists on the streets of Tenhipalam town. Such was the enactment of the massacre on its 100th centennial, that PFI chose to do a rally parading men dressed in RSS uniforms on the streets like prisoners of their Muslim victors. The men being paraded were also chained. Even today, there is an incessant urge among Kerala’s Islamists to join terror outfits around the world and wage a battle to create an Islamic world order. Kerala is a highly radicalised state. Over the years, it has become a hub for the Wahhabi movement, and radical Islam has spread its tentacles far and wide in the state.
Nationalists
For nationalists, the Moplah massacre is a blot on the Malabar region’s history. Nationalists have tonnes of facts to back their assertion of the Moplah ‘uprising’ actually being an anti-Hindu campaign waged by Moplah Muslims.
Annie Besant described the genocidal events of Moplah in her book ‘The Future of Indian Politics’ as, “They murdered and plundered abundantly, and killed or drove away all Hindus who would not apostatize. Somewhere about a lakh of people were driven from their homes with nothing but the clothes they had on, stripped of everything. Malabar has taught us what Islamic rule still means, and we do not want to see another specimen of the Khilafat Raj in India”.

Mr Thomas Strange, who had served in various capacities in Malabar investigated the real cause of frequent anti-Hindu outrages by Muslims, especially those relating to land disputes. He found that the Hindus never triggered any violence. They did not even provoke the Muslims. Yet, they were hunted down by Islamists, simply due to their faith. “Since land is with the Hindus and the money with the Mappilas (Muslims), to get the land, the Mappilas encouraged (or resorted to) fanaticism,” Mr Strange wrote.
Mr Connolly, who had been the District Magistrate of Malabar, mentions in his report in 1852 that, “For the last several years the land of Malabar has been bloodied by the horrific invasions which the Moplah Muslims have carried out on the Hindus. Rich and respected Hindus were publicly humiliated, attacked, their residences set on fire, and then surrendered to fighting the police or the army.”
To this day, the unholy nexus of communists and Islamists has kept the massacre of Hindus under the wraps with little to no mention of it in the cultural readings of Kerala. Now that the realities of the anti-Hindu Moplah massacre are being brought into the public domain, liberals and Islamists are both equally outraged.
