Since coming to power in 2014, the Modi government has been continuously under fire from the pseudo-liberal sect which had claimed that the Modi government has been hypocritical when it comes to the question of beef. The pseudo-liberals have claimed that while BJP along with the majority remains critical of cow slaughter, the government has been permitting beef exports in high volumes.
Many reports have also emerged from left-leaning outlets outlying this point and also claiming that India is the largest beef exporter in the world. A report published in ThePrint titled, “India’s beef exports rise under Modi govt despite Hindu vigilante campaign at home” makes similar claims. The report states, “India’s beef exports increased, albeit marginally, in the last years of the Narendra Modi government – contrary to claims by a prominent global rights group that said data showed a fall on the back of attacks by cow vigilantes and tougher laws on cow protection.”
ThePrint’s report also cited a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report, which stated, “After the BJP government came to power in 2014, however, exports have mostly declined, and an action by the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh state, the top meat-producing state in the country, has led to further uncertainties over the future of the trade.”
While the left-liberal establishment continues to use these export statistics to target Narendra Modi government over beef exports they fail to clearly state the fact the this ‘beef’ mentioned in the reports refers to buffalo meat and not cow meat. However, they never fail to mention several law and order incidents involving the illegal slaughter of cows in which the identity of the victims suits their agendas.
In a recently surfaced video, current Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman clarified the doubts over claims that ‘India is the largest exporter of cow meat’. In the video Union Minister can be clearly seen pointing out the difference in the ‘meat’ being exported by India and claims made by several organizations and individuals. In the video, the minister clarifies the ‘beef’ that India exports is not cow or ox meat but is actually buffalo meat. In the video, the minister also clarifies that the export of cow meat is totally prohibited and illegal.

The video is believed to be two years old. In 2017, Nirmala Sitharaman had answered questions that were raised on Twitter with hashtag #ASKNIRMALA.
In 2016 in a reply to a query in parliament too, this issue was clarified, however, the left-liberal group had chosen to ignore this and continued with their skewed propaganda. In the reply, it was clearly stated that beef is not being exported by the country.

In fiscal 2014-15, beef (Bufallo meat) exports stood at 14,75,540 metric tonnes — the highest in 10 years — up from 13,65,643 metric tonnes in 2013-14. And in 2017-18, the figure again marginally increased to 13,48,225 metric tonnes — a 1.3 percent rise from 2016-17.
Despite a number of clarifications, over the past few years, the left-liberal sect has been indulging in misleading the nation by their skewed and biased reports which cunningly fail to mention the truth about the ‘beef’ that is being exported by India. This is another example of how the left-liberal sect manufactures myths that are further used by the propaganda machinery to churn out political points.
Despite the government repeatedly clarifying the issue the media has continued to peddle the narrative.
