Few days back the MP Chief Minster had said that the Congress Party is not in a position to get a majority in the Parliament. He has now provided a number for the seats Congress may be able to secure, which is 132, in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. BBC reporter Sameer Hashmi asked the MP CM about the total seats that could be won by Congress, to which Kamal Nath answered that though their tally will be tripled, the total will only come to 132. The given calculation would still not be enough for the Congress to form the government at the centre.

When asked if the Congress would support the third front, Kamal Nath said that it was about keeping BJP out of power. Addressing to media earlier, Nath mentioned, “Of course, we are going to do very, very well but I do not see us reaching a majority and there will have to be a post-poll alliance and this post-poll alliance will throw up different types of combinations.”
The MP CM has been questioned on various occasions about the potential post-poll alliance to which he further added, “If there is an alliance, the alliance will take decisions. There are today two types — one is anti-BJP and one is pro-BJP. The pro-BJP numbers are very small and for anti-BJP you see the entire political spectrum is against it. So, whatever numbers are thrown up (is to be seen). BJP is trying to think that they will ever be able to form a government (but that) is too farfetched. Because they will neither have numbers, nor will other political parties go with them”
Kamal Nath also confirmed about who will be the PM of India if the Congress win. To quote him, “Of course, if we have the numbers, Rahul Gandhi is the obvious PM. He has inspired the NYAY scheme, a revolutionary scheme which will lift five crore families out of poverty. We will do it simply because there are resources available. The question is apportioning resources.”
Kamal Nath has already exposed the sinister reality of the Mahagathbandhan even before the polls ended. The fight was to never form a credible alternative for the current NDA government, but instead, oust PM Narendra Modi from power and bring back the scourge of power thirsty coalition politics, which had almost destroyed India from 2004-2014. It is evident through his statement to the BBC reporter, when he said that it is all about removing BJP from power.
Congress is already surrounded with a lot of controversy. Kamal Nath, whose aides have been accused in the IT raid, has made it clear that the chances of Congress forming a government at the end of this Lok Sabha election is blurring. It will not be able to secure a majority despite the speculation that the number of seats secured this time will be thrice than the number of seats they won in 2014.
