Amidst all the alliances and controversies of the elections, the BJP has decided to pull out another card for its campaign ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP, while fulfilling its necessity to campaign for the elections in Delhi decided on a unique mechanism- the Digital Rath. The Digital Rath is an offline chariot that will play a video reel of all the Modi government achievements while highlighting all the failures of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in all the 70 assembly constituencies of the capital. That’s not even the best part. The Digital Rath will have an in-built WiFi spot whose user ID and password will be “Kejriwal failed to give free WiFi”.
Under the leadership of Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, the yatra will boast huge LED screens mounted on an air-conditioned van, which will show video clips of various schemes and policies of the BJP government of the last 5 years. It’s primarily aimed at educating the tech-savvy voters of the Modi government’s achievements which have helped crores of poor people across the country. A substantial part of BJP’s campaigning has been aimed at the millennial voters who are going through the polls for the first time and the Digital Rath is the latest installment.
Up to 200 people can connect to the WiFi spot at the same time. Arvind Kejriwal is infamous all over the capital for making tall promises with slim implementation. While enlightening the people about the unfulfilled promises, the Modi government is making a jibe at the Chief Minister by adopting the unique yet comical WiFi user ID and password.
Moreover, the party will also organize a “Twitter Chaupal” for people to connect to Manoj Tiwari to ask him questions and give feedback, positive and negative; on various issues. “Since the content on Twitter cannot be edited or deleted by any other person, it will be there for everyone to see,” stated Delhi BJP’s IT and social media cell co-incharge Neelkant Baxi.
While the digital chariot will commence from the first week of April, the Twitter Chaupal will take place on March 27 or 28.
Neelkant Baxi stated, “Manoj Tiwari will himself travel on the digital chariot and visit each and every part of the city and interact with people. They will also be able to download the NaMo app and we will try to create digital awareness among them by giving tips on how to spot fake news peddled by the opposition parties.”
The people can even interact with PM Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah and Tiwari. Moreover, at least two party MPs — Harsh Vardhan of Chandni Chowk and Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma of west Delhi — have launched their own mobile applications, in furtherance to the tech-savvy approach of BJP.
The saffron party had realised the significance and impact of social media during the 2014 elections when Twitter had emerged as the primary form of political campaigning. Paving way for enhanced facilitation of politician-public interaction, the same method is being applied again in 2019. Since Arvind Kejriwal was unable to fulfill his promise of providing WiFi facilities to the citizens, these efforts in the capital are being taken by BJP to enable the citizens to connect to the internet so that they can be well informed and interact with their leaders at the same time.
