Even after facing near-extinction through the length and breadth of the country, something that still characterizes the Congress is its attitude of defaming and maligning those who challenge its authority. The Congress is still a bitter opponent which stoops to any level in order to settle political scores. In the recent past, the main victim of massive Congress propaganda has been BJP spokesperson, Dr. Sambit Patra. The Congress fans, so called seculars and several left wing social media websites have been on an organised campaign to tarnish Patra’s image.
Broadly, there are three accusations that are being constantly hurled at him are that Sambit Patra has been made an ONGC Director on account of nepotism and has been appointed as an ONGC Director only because he is a BJP spokesperson. People belonging to the leftist liberal cabal such as Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav tweeted enthusiastically and immediately condemned his appointment.

Apart from this, Congress trolls have been regularly making attempts to label him as uneducated, uncouth and loud spokesperson. The fact remains that he was appointed as an Independent Director of the ONGC board which means that he draws only sitting fees and no other benefits. In fact, such a Director acts as a whistle-blower and in case the company fails to comply with laws and ethics. Coming to his qualifications and education, Sambit Patra is a highly qualified surgeon and holds his Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery from SCB Medical College, Cuttack in 2002. He even cleared UPSC Combined Medical Services in 2003 and joined Hindu Rao Hospital as a medical officer in Delhi. He formed an NGO by the name of Swaraj in 2006 and worked towards the betterment of Dalits and Adivasis. Even after joining BJP, he continued to work as an activist and a surgeon. Therefore, the claim that he is uneducated and unqualified is a mere concoction.
The Congress-led propaganda against him has been to portray him as an uncivilized troll and to demand his removal as a BJP spokesperson. The idea has been to insist on his removal on the above said grounds. The Congress and in fact, the entire pseudo-secular tribe has been taken for cleaners time and again by Patra. He understands political issues and uses his terrific comic timing and presence of mind to great effect. His witty replies leave his opponents speechless.
Some of the incidents where Dr. Sambit Patra humiliated the Congress and the so called seculars give an idea why the cabal hates Patra out of its guts. The way he exposed Kanahiya Kumar about his anti-national stand and terror sympathizing attitude went on to show that he minces no words when it comes to opposing anti social and anti national elements.
Congress has been one of the major victims of his excellent oratory skills; every now and then Patra has exposed the overpowering position of the Nehru-Gandhi family within the Congress and embarrassed Congress spokespersons. Similarly, his hilarious imitation of Siddhu’s poem about AAP and Kejriwal shows his versatility as a party spokesperson. Apart from this, Dr. Sambat Patra’s witty reply about the opposition’s unethical attitude of stalling parliamentary proceedings is also an example of how he can take on the party’s opponents at will. Most recently, Dr. Patra’s comments about Rahul Gandhi’s awkward hug moment with prime minister Modi is something that would have dealt a telling blow to the Congress.

Dr. Sambit Patra believes in the theory of not fearing infamy and not pining for fame. It is clear that since he gives no breathing space to his opponents and this is the only reason why the Congress and similar pseudo-secular parties have been on an organised campaign to defame and malign his image.
