On April 12, two boys died in army firing in Handwara. Nayeem Ahmad, one of the boys killed, was a budding cricketer. The other boy was Muhammad Iqbal. J&K Separatists who are normally on a lookout for any occassion to attack and malign the army latched on to this Hadwara episode too and called for a shutdown in the valley. J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti called the Handwara episode unfortunate. She went on to say that such episodes have huge negative impact on the efforts of the government and political leadership in bringing peace to state”.
According to initial reports, the boys were protesting the harrassment of a girl by one of the security personnel. 500 odd villagers surrounded an army post upon which, security personnel resorted to firing. The firing left four others injured while one Raja Begum, succumbed at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar.
Handwara Firing: Indian Army, today released a video clarifying their stand. The video has the girl saying that she wasn’t molested by any army personnel but by local boys.

The video is said to have been filmed by J&K police for questioning. Army spokesperson Lt Col N.N. Joshi mentioned that the video which surfaced is the statement of the girl and proves there was no molestation. It seems that it was a mala fide intent to malign the army.”
Indian Army fights with aggressive foes on all sides of the borders while a bunch of traitors wage a war against it. The mainlanders of India have an emotional connect with the Army. There is a concerted plot to brand our brave army men as assaulters and rapists and hence wean the trust that they command. Handwara episode is one such conspiracy. But they won’t stop. So we should stop judging our army men on the basis of lies created out of thin air.
