In a blistering series of Tweets, Prashant Bhushan lampooned the Lokpal Bill which the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government is set to introduce in the Delhi Assembly. Calling the Delhi Lokpal Bill ‘Jokepal’, Bhushan accused Arvind Kejriwal of playing fraud with the the dreams and aspirations of the thousands of people who had participated in the India Against Corruption Movement.
Bhushan alleges that the Delhi Lokpal Bill was designed to be thwarted by the Central Government so that the Aam Aadmi Party could score a political victory against their rivals, the BJP. According to Bhushan, the Lokpal Bill has certain provisions which will force the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to turn down the Bill which will then be used an an excuse to attack the Central Government of obstructing the Delhi Government.
Also, Bhushan states that the Delhi Lokpal Bill violates the very essence of the Jan Lokpal Bill that they fought for alongside Anna Hazare. According to him, the Delhi Lokpal Bill reduces the Lokpal to be another political tool at the hand of the ruling party, to he used at whim.
The reason for such a vicious attack by Prashant Bhushan lies in the provisions of the Delhi Lokpal Bill which reeks of political malice and shrewd cunning. According to its provisions, 3 out of 4 members of the selection committee of the Lokpal will be from the Political Class, of which two of them will be from the ruling party. Furthermore, the Lokpal can be dismissed through a resolution supported by a 2/3rd majority in the Assembly which, needless to say, will make the Lokpal subordinate to the Delhi Assembly when Bhushan and his ilk had demanded that the Lokpal be free of any political interference.

Perhaps the most ridiculous provision of the Delhi Lokpal Bill is that the Delhi Lokpal will have the authority to investigate all allegations of Corruption in Delhi, including that of the Central government which clearly goes against the Federal Structure of the Constitution. It also means that the Central Government will strike down the Delhi Lokpal Bill which will present Kejriwal with another opportunity to cry victim in the face of legitimate action.
On top of that, the Delhi Lokpal will not have any investigative agency working under it. For investigative purposes, it will have to rely on the officers provided by the government which will again make the Lokpal a mere tool of the Government in power.
One can’t help but marvel at the audacity of the treachery Arvind Kejriwal is capable of. Remember, the Lokpal Bill is the same reason why Arvind Kejriwal had resigned as the Chief Minister during his first tenure after only 49 days. And to come up with such a horribly distorted version of the Lokpal, something the entire India Against Corruption movement was focused on, is as Prashant Bhushan says, a clear fraud.
And once again the cheap politics Arvind Kejriwal is playing in Delhi is for all to see. The vicious propaganda launched by the Delhi Government where all the party members blame the Central Government for all their own incompetence and failures and then cry victim is again for all to see. But blind to all reason and logic, the Aaptards continue to buy into the various lies being propagated by the Aam Aadmi Party.
Such is their devotion towards Arvind Kejriwal that they, in their mindless hatred, suggest that Prashant Bhushan join the BJP for his very legitimate criticism of their Demigod. Seeing how Bhushan wanted a plebiscite in Kashmir, we think the BJP is doing quite alright without having such people in their party. There is something known as ‘Ideological Inclination’ which Aaptards might not be intellectually equipped to appreciate. And just because someone is criticizing your Arvind Kejriwal, it does not mean they are from the BJP, which again the Aaptards might not be intellectually equipped to appreciate.
The current controversy regarding the Lokpal Bill must be seen in light of the various other occasions where the AAP has accused the LG of Delhi of acting under the instructions of the Central Government. When Bhushan says Najeeb Jung will be forced to turn down the Lokpal Bill, it legitimizes the various other occasions when the LG had cautioned about the AAP working unconstitutionally. Anyone with a bit of common sense realizes now that this had been the AAP’s game plan all along, to induce the LG into striking down AAP’s initiatives and then accuse the BJP of obstructing the Delhi Government. Thankfully, owing to Prashant Bhushan’s revelations, the nefarious agenda of Arvind Kejriwal has been irreparably exposed.
