I watched the movie ‘Queen’ a couple of days back. I loved the movie. Yes it was a chick flick and being an ardent Scorsese and Tarantino fan that I am, I don’t really like chick flicks. In fact I stopped watching Bollywood Movies after this entire 200-500 crore drama started. I went to watch a Bollywood movie after a long time. I went to the cinema hall with zero expectations but I came out smiling. Queen is a feel good movie at its best and there are a number of reasons to like this movie.1. Subtle message of feminism with zero aggression – A girl doesn’t need a guy standing by her side all the time to make her feel comfortable. The self respect of a woman is supreme. The character ‘Rani’ played by Kangna is a walking personification of strong feminist attitude and unlike the pseudo feminists, she does it quietly without showing an iota of aggression.

2. No Filmy Cliché – There are moments in this movie where you are almost sure that the movie will take a ‘Baghban'(from rags to riches) turn. But no, the director successfully dodges the filmy Clichés. There is a charming European boy who ‘almost’ likes Kangana, and while everyone thought that a nice juicy love story is on its way, the director avoids it as well. And there is no beautiful swan from ugly duckling transformation either. Like that there are many scenes in the movie which avoid cliches and hence make it an interesting watch.

3. Live Life – Life is a 80 year package gifted to us all. Live it the way you want to live or live it the way people want you to live. This film teaches us to live life “Queen” size

4. Do what you want to do – You can kiss a stranger. You can share room with random people. You can go to dingy clubs, you can drive around in an unknown city. You can do whatever you want to do.

5. Be yourself – Wherever you go, Whatever you do. Never ever change yourself to suit other’s styles. You are not as fat as you think. You are not as ugly as you think. Your dressing style is not bad. Don’t ape others, be yourself.

And of course the movie has good music, great foreign locations and a brilliant acting performance by Kangana Ranaut. Go watch ‘Queen’ and take your Girlfriend, sister, mother or daughter along. It is worth every single penny and second of yours!
