Twenty girl cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) successfully completed the All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek “Aparajita – Parang La 2026,” one of the NCC’s flagship adventure expeditions. The trek was flagged in at Karzok, Ladakh, on Wednesday by Director General NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats, along with Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Smt Dipti Mohil Chawla.
Over 30 days, the cadets — selected from across the country — covered approximately 250 kilometres, crossing the Parang La Pass at 5,578 metres to link the Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh. The route took them through glaciers, snowfields and river valleys, with the team travelling from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh, supported throughout by accompanying officers, instructors, medical staff and support personnel.
The expedition was flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on August 18, 2026.
Congratulating the cadets and staff on completing the trek, Lt Gen Vats said such expeditions help build leadership, self-confidence, teamwork and endurance among young people.
