The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) on Sunday strongly refuted claims that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had attacked a food distribution point near Rafah, dismissing the widely circulated accusations made by Hamas as false and fabricated. GHF, a US-backed humanitarian organization, clarified that its distribution center in Rafah operated without incident, and security camera footage from the site confirmed a peaceful environment throughout the day. The foundation stated that aid was delivered smoothly, with no reports of injuries or fatalities.
“There were no attacks, no injuries, no fatalities — the aid distribution proceeded without disruption,” GHF emphasized, adding that multiple media outlets had reached out to verify the situation amid the spread of misinformation.
The IDF also rejected the allegations, stating that an initial investigation revealed no military activity near the humanitarian site at the time of the supposed incident. According to an IDF spokesperson, troops had engaged with suspects approximately one kilometer away from the aid center during the night and well outside of the distribution’s operating hours. The forces reportedly used evasive fire to deter individuals approaching their position, unrelated to the area or timing of the humanitarian operation.
The IDF reiterated its commitment to coordinating closely with GHF and international relief organizations to ensure aid reaches civilians in Gaza rather than falling into Hamas’s hands. The military accused Hamas of manipulating humanitarian aid for propaganda, obstructing food distribution, and using starvation as a coercive tool to maintain control over the population.
A video provided to The Jerusalem Post corroborated the IDF’s account, showing peaceful civilian activity and no signs of violence or disruption. The footage discredited the circulating reports of IDF fire into aid-seeking crowds.
GHF also condemned what it called a deliberate disinformation campaign by Hamas. “These fake reports have been actively fomented by Hamas. They are untrue and fabricated,” the organization stated.
In terms of humanitarian efforts, GHF reported that it had distributed over 4.7 million meals in just six days. On Sunday alone, the organization delivered 16 truckloads of food to Tel Sultan, totaling 15,360 boxes — an estimated 887,040 meals.
GHF announced plans to expand its operations across Gaza, including the north, to address growing needs. Its third food distribution center recently opened in central Gaza, adding to two existing sites near Rafah. Another center is expected to open soon in Khan Yunis, in the mid-southern part of the territory.
“We’re scaling up as quickly as possible,” GHF said, “but the truth is stark: for every truck we successfully bring into our network, other humanitarian groups are being looted before reaching those in need.”
