The Narendra Modi government has taken another significant step towards effectively presenting India’s firm and decisive stance against terrorism on national and international platforms. On May 25, a crucial meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Chief Ministers’ Council will be held in Delhi, attended by chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, and senior leaders from 21 NDA-ruled states and union territories.
The focal point of the meeting will be the Indian Armed Forces’ ‘Operation Sindoor’, which emerged as targeted strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK on May 7, following a terrorist attack in Pehelgam on April 22. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated in this retaliatory action, while Pakistan’s counter-military efforts were completely thwarted by the Indian Air Force and Army.
According to sources, the meeting will provide detailed insights into the strategic depth, military success, and diplomatic messages of Operation Sindoor to NDA chief ministers. It will also clarify that India’s actions were solely against terrorists, not any country’s military.
The meeting will commence with BJP National President JP Nadda welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by an address by the Prime Minister to all attendees. This meeting will not only clarify the government’s security perspective but also play a vital role in shaping good governance, social justice, and political direction.
Progress and Security: A Balanced National Policy
The meeting’s agenda will not be limited to security. It will also encompass development, social justice, good governance, and political strengthening. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the central government is working on the principle of ‘pro-people, pro-governance,’ and this meeting will strategize to implement it more effectively in states.
Schemes for the poor and marginalized, such as the PM Awas Yojana, free ration distribution, healthcare services, and self-employment initiatives, will be reviewed. Special emphasis will be placed on uniformly implementing successful models of good governance across all states.
The meeting is also expected to hold significant discussions on positioning India as an alternative to China in the global trade system. It will be emphasized that India can strengthen its position on global platforms through limited but decisive military actions and economic-diplomatic strategies without getting entangled in prolonged conflicts.
Amid the US tariff dispute, NDA-ruled states may receive guidance on production, exports, and attracting investments to enhance India’s participation in the global supply chain.
Political Strategy on Caste Census and Social Justice
According to sources, the meeting will discuss strategies for launching a public awareness campaign regarding the central government’s decision on a caste-based census. The aim is to effectively communicate the message of social justice to the public and counter the opposition’s misleading politics.
A resolution on this issue may also be passed during the meeting to ensure NDA-ruled states move forward with a coordinated and positive message. The meeting will also deliberate extensively on the Bihar Assembly elections. Special discussions will focus on the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for late 2024. Strategies to encourage migrants from the state to actively participate in the elections are likely to be discussed.
