Fresh satellite imagery has confirmed structural damage to a Command and Control facility at Pakistan’s Murid Airbase, following precision strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the morning of May 10. These strikes were part of a broader response to recent escalatory actions by Pakistan.
Among the targeted sites were several significant airbases, including Nur Khan in Rawalpindi and Rafiqui in Shorkot. The latest images suggest that the damage may be more severe than initially understood, particularly at bases considered strategic to Pakistan’s aerial operations.
Defense analyst Damien Symon, who analyzed the imagery, noted visible destruction at Murid, including a partial collapse of the Command and Control building’s roof—an indication of possible internal damage. Symon shared the findings publicly via social media platform X, highlighting Murid’s importance as a forward operating base near the Indian border.
Murid was reportedly one of the key sites housing Turkish-supplied drones, which had been launched toward Indian territory between May 7 and May 10. However, all incoming drones and munitions were successfully intercepted by Indian air defense systems during this period, which Pakistan refers to as a response to Operation Sindoor.
Situated in Punjab’s Chakwal district and falling under Pakistan’s Northern Command, Murid has served as a hub for both surveillance and unmanned aerial operations. Its current condition underscores the toll of the IAF’s recent campaign.
Further imagery of Nur Khan Airbase, shared a day prior, also reveals more extensive damage than initially reported. Satellite visuals show that areas surrounding the original strike zone were heavily impacted, with entire segments of the facility apparently demolished.
These developments offer a clearer picture of the effectiveness and reach of the Indian strikes and highlight ongoing challenges faced by Pakistan’s air force in the wake of the operation.
Operation Sindoor, launched in the early hours of May 7, 2025, was India’s forceful response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 civilian lives and injured many others. The operation marked a significant departure from India’s traditionally restrained military posture, with a new strategy focused on proactive and punitive action against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
