Just days before skipping the debate, Rahul Gandhi met with Congress leaders from Manipur and targeted PM Modi for allegedly ignoring the situation. He even posted on X (formerly Twitter): “The people of Manipur deserve peace and stability. Every Indian stands united in wanting a lasting solution to this crisis. Resolving this conflict must be our national priority.”
Yet, when the Lok Sabha took up the matter for discussion, Rahul Gandhi vanished. This stark contradiction exposes his lack of seriousness and confirms what many have long suspected his dramatic outrage is only for political optics. Rahul’s absence did not go unnoticed, and social media erupted with mockery. Many netizens came forward basing Rahul Gandhi for not being part of the discussion on Manipur.
One of Rahul Gandhi’s favorite talking points has been that India’s democracy is under threat, and that the government is curtailing opposition voices. Rahul Gandhi’s actions make one thing clear that his outrage over Manipur was never about the people. It was always about politics and milking the crisis for votes. If he truly cared about the state, he would have participated in the discussion and pushed for real solutions. If he truly wanted to help, he would have engaged in serious policy discussions instead of reducing Manipur to a talking point for political grandstanding.
