A nation gets destroyed not by outsiders but when the internal actors, politicians falter. And that happens when the lust for power outpaces wisdom. In India, a similar situation is grappling the political landscape. The biggest drawback of such a setup is that far from reality these leaders talk highly of the Constitution, equality and other democratic values only to mislead citizens and not to abide by it.

This is precisely what is happening with the people of India and the key actors doing injustice with Indians is the opposition. It is not necessarily the fact that the government needs not to be called out, but the non-seriousness of leaders like Rahul Gandhi and the coercive imposition of him over the nation, despite his back-to-back failures makes the above case.

It is only because of this nepotic and dynastic attitude, leaders like him get a free pass to hurt sentiments of any community. In India’s case it is Hindus.

On Saturday, Gandhi addressed the Lok Sabha on the second day of Constitution debate. It was a popular expectation to see him speaking on the Constitution but he took the entire time only to attack the govt or take out his frustration on the govt to put it correctly.

Targeting govt is no doubt the job of the opposition, but when the Constitution was the topic of debate, which they used as a plank to target the govt in recent months, it would have been more productive to at least point out demerits with a just resource. But as said, these leaders just talk big but lack wisdom and so the Leader of Opposition exploited the platform to sort his personal grudges.

But make no mistake, he was not only targeting the BJP but also Hinduism because it is the only thing that has kept him away from power.

While speaking, he took out Manusmriti in one hand and Constitution in the other. His attempt was clearly to demean the Dharmashastra rather than to glorify the Constitution as the latter is already acknowledged as sacred by the large Hindu community. The question that must be asked to him is that has he ever read Manusmriti? These all Dharmashastra-haters have made their perception based on Max Muller’s translation, which has been discarded by Sanskrit scholars.

Besides, if Gandhi talks about equality and democracy, who gave him the right to demean any religious text or can he do the same with the Quran or the Bible? I seriously doubt that.

On Manusmriti, Gandhi also targeted Veer Savarkar, attributing a statement to the freedom fighter, that there is nothing Indian in the Constitution and Manusmriti is the real Constitution. This is outrageous as it essentially presents a religious text in a bad light.

Manusmriti is a vast text which needs to be understood by learning Vedic Sanskrit. At the outset, the Constitution and Manusmriti are different. The Constitution serves the purpose of a nation which is modern and doesn’t believe in let’s say reincarnation. On the other hand, Manusmriti believes in reincarnation. The point being, the definition of equality, justice under the ambit of any contemporary Constitution is materialistic and limited to a period of 50-100 years which for Manusmriti it is beyond a life.

So, Rahul Gandhi’s lack of knowledge about any sacred text can not define the objectivity of that text and therefore what he is doing could have easily been considered blasphemy in Abrahamic context. He only gets acquitted because of a tolerant Hindu mindset which he would never appreciate for his political ideology.

As far as Veer Savarkar is concerned, Shiv Sena MP Srikant Shinde’s reply in Lok Sabha was sufficient where he quoted Indira Gandhi calling Savarkar “Remarkable Son of India”. But look at the frustration and hatred against anyone who identifies himself as Hindus.

Interjecting Gandhi stood and said that during his childhood days, he asked Indira Gandhi about Savarkar, to which she replied Savarkar apologised.

The haste in which Gandhi said this clearly reflects his truthfulness and accordingly his respect for the House where he once winked only behooves the behaviour of a roadside romeo.

But to demean Hindus and their religion, Gandhi got full opportunity today. In order to target the govt, he narrated the wrong story of Mahabharata that sage Dronacharya cut the thumb of Eklavya because the latter belonged to a lower caste. It has become a faction in politics to blabber lies and fabricated stories around Hindu religion just to divide them. But is this what the democracy they envisage!

Also Read: Thumb, Tapasya, Manusmriti: Rahul Gandhi goes bonkers on Hindu scriptures

For once, a Hindu could have forgiven Gandhi considering his lack of understanding of Indian civilisation but he proved that he willfully targets Hinduism when he was pointed out that he is narrating the wrong story and he shamelessly said that he has his own version. Can a religious history be tormented for any prince’s desire? The question is why such contentious and anti-Hindu remarks are given a free pass? And why did Rahul Gandhi easily get away with this? All political parties irrespective of their ideology must call him out for this deliberate attack on Hindus and their belief system. He must be questioned as to why he wilfully wants to divide the society?

Hindus need to understand that leaders like him are adopting the policy of bleeding with thousand cuts. Each day they cross a line one step ahead and tolerant Hindu ignores. Meanwhile, under the garb of secularism, they play the biggest sectarian game by appeasing Muslims and giving them clean chit for any crime they do. In doing so they even raise questions on the police, judiciary and every other institution.

In the same Lok Sabha address, he mentioned Sambhal violence and dubbed five rioters “innocent”. He claimed that they were bystanders and were killed without any fault. Taking refuge of the privileges of the house, Gandhi did all the best he could have done and his lobby would have desired. Painting Hindus, their texts and religion as disgraceful while giving clean chit to those who posed obstacles in legal proceedings and injured policemen. What does this tell? Is there any confusion to say that Hindus as one community hold no political importance to them. In fact, he is sending a clear message that Hindus must divide to get the attention of the opposition.

And as far as the Constitution of India is concerned, a politician’s words are enough to get a clear idea of his ideas. Rahul only used the Constitution to target Savarkar, Hindus and praise Nehru and Gandhi, but he didn’t mention Dr BR Ambedkar.

The so-called messiah of dalits and backwards take the name of Ambedkar only when it suits them, otherwise they know what Ambedkar said about Congress leaders like Nehru and others. They know, Ambedkar is not someone whom they could misquote and therefore, they try to keep mum and appease dalits. Most scholars who get clear eye of Gandhi’s politics call it dangerous for nation, but a step further I would say that his politics is even more dangerous for this civilisation as he wants to distort the fabric of this living civilisation and end the cohesiveness only to get to rule this nation and fulfill his lust for power.
