Maa Katyayini Mandir Chhatarpur – Guide
The Chhatarpur Mandir in New Delhi is dedicated to Goddess Maa Katyayini. She is an incarnation of Goddess Maa Durga who is considered to be the epitome of Shakti. The temple is a massive structure built on a vast tract of land and the complex has several other temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi and Ganesha.
It currently holds the status of the second largest temple complex in India after the Akshardham Temple which is a recent structure. The temple is made of exquisite white marble and the complex is filled with beautiful manicured lawns and gardens.
History of Maa Katyayini Mandir Chhatarpur
It is said that Maa Durga incarnated here as Katyayani with the aim of killing the evil demon Mahishasura who was wreaking havoc on the world with his evil deeds. This wonderful goddess is created by the holy trinity of Hindu gods, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma by combining their forces to and endowed her with awesome powers. Without the slightest hesitation, she went about her task with gusto and killed the demon with ease, thus acquiring the moniker Mahishasuramardini.
Maa Katyayini Mandir Chhatarpur was the largest in the world till recently, but it is said that later Akshardham temple eclipsed it in gigantic size. The temple is built in both the South and North Indian style of architecture and is considered a marvel of construction. It is a modern design with extensive use of marble and intricately carved lattice work. People from all over the world come here not only to offer prayers, but also to take in its majestic façade and admire its sheer beauty.

Qutub Minar
Located in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts hordes of local and international tourists. The 73 meter tall tower that watches over the entire city is made of red sandstone and marble. It is the tallest brick tower in the world.
The construction of this tower of victory was started in 1192 by Qutb ud-Din Aibak, the founder of the Mamluk dynasty in Delhi. It was completed by his successor and son-in-law, Iltutmish, in 1220.
