Rahul Gandhi is Beijing’s man in New Delhi

Rahul Gandhi is Beijing’s man in New Delhi
Share on FacebookShare on X

“We did not know where it was.. It is a territory where not even a blade of grass grows.” This was the statement Rahul Gandhi’s grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru made after losing about 37,244 square kilometres to China, let alone the defence budget cut in 1950. China had captured this much land which is today known as Aksai Chin.

Yes, you heard me right, the north-eastern end of India’s crown is under Chinese occupation. But wait, tell me, what does 37000 square kilometres mean? This area is almost Bhutan, Kerala, Manipur and Nagaland put together. Why am I recalling this? It is because the Gandhi scion had some opinion about the Indian Army.

Rahul Gandhi has an opinion about Armed Forces

Politically, India is a very dynamic nation and the opposition has the full means and independence to target the ruling party. Rahul Gandhi is no exception as he is running the party served to him through will, as per his own whims and fancies.

While addressing one of the press conferences in Rajasthan, Gandhi was asked about the purported clashes between two Congress leaders in Rajasthan- Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. He very briefly talked on the topic and cunningly diverted towards Tawang, where the recent Sino-Indian clashes took place.

Rahul Gandhi said, “People will ask about Bharat Jodo yatra, here and there, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot and whatnot. But they will not ask a single question about China capturing 2000 square kilometres of Indian territory, killing 20 Indian soldiers, and thrashing our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh. But the Indian press doesn’t ask a question to them about this. Isn’t it true? The nation is watching all this. Don’t pretend that the people don’t know.”

Where the Gandhi scion got it all wrong

While it is the public domain that Chinese intruded, who were then thrashed by their Indian counterparts and forced to retreat, Rahul Gandhi choses to use a phrase like “thrashing our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh.” I would tell you what exactly he said in Hindi as it derives more context. The Gandhi scion said, “aur humare jawano ko Arunachal Pradesh mein peet rahe hain.”

You, our viewers, tell me, is this the kind of statement a self-acclaimed national opposition should deliver about the armed forces in a country like India, where the forces keep us safe day and night amidst hostile neighbourhoods.

Gandhi was probably trying to target the Modi government over the China issue to add some brownie points to his political career, which has not yet taken off. However, speaking foul about the Army cannot be justified for taking political jibes.

Government makes it stand clear

Why do I say so? Rahul Gandhi might be right; the Chinese may have overpowered the Indians. Well, here is another lesson for Rahul Gandhi, verify before you speak.

Yes, the scuffle did break out between Indian and Chinese troops along the LAC in Arunanchal’s Tawang sector on December 9. The matter was addressed by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh. Singh said that the attempt of PLA troops was contested by the Indian army in a firm and resolute manner. The Indian forces prevented the PLA from transgressing into the Indian territory and compelled them to return to their posts.

Kiren Rijiju, the Union law minister, who also visited the sector post clashes, has accused Rahul Gandhi of damaging India’s image. Rijiju alleged that Gandhi is not only insulting the Indian Army but also damaging nation’s image.

The China connection of Gandhis

Till now we talked about what the Gandhi scion said and how he was wrong. Now, let’s understand why the man who claims to be the leader of the Opposition would say something like ‘our soldiers are being beaten.’ It is simply because of the affection the Gandhis have for Beijing. It has not just flourished recently but has a very old connection. Else, why would a PM say that the land that the Chinese occupied could never grow grass.

Why would an organisation run by the wife of a former Prime Minister be funded by China? I am talking about the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, run by Sonia Gandhi herself, who served as the Congress president for a very long time. The FCRA license of the Foundation was recently cancelled on the accusations of receiving funds from the embassy of China.

It was Rahul Gandhi who met the Chinese ambassador secretly amid the Doklam standoff. Then, he missed 11 defence committee meetings. So, what is the Gandhi scion doing by making political jibes at the expense of the morale of the armed forces or is he spreading misinformation? Well I leave that for you to decide.
