With the help of anti-India forces, Pakistan constantly smuggles illegal arms, drugs, and fake currency into India. But the sinister plan doesn’t end there. It has been changing the religious demographics in and around the coastal areas of Gujarat. This has created an alarming situation for the maritime and coastal security of India.
Pakistani hand in the Islamisation of Krishna Nagri
Bet-Dwarka is believed to be the location where Sudama went to meet his beloved friend Shri Krishna and end his miseries. It is not just significant spiritually but also from a security point of view. Evidently, it is a highly strategic island located just a few hours away from Karachi, Pakistan. However, its strategic importance has become a curse for the city of Krishna. The area has undergone a drastic change in religious demographics.
In 1945, the Gaekwad dynasty was ruling here. It allocated a space to the Muslims. Since then, Pakistan has been trying to Islamise Krishna Nagri.

In the 1960 census, there were only 600 Muslim voters, while Hindu voters were around 2,786. As per the analysis of average population growth, the ratio of the two communities would have been around 5:1. However, due to forced evictions, illegal migration from Pakistan, and sham marriage alliances, the Hindu population has been reduced to below thousand.
Bet-Dwarka is said to have a population of around 12,000 people. Approximately 80% of them, or nearly 9,500, practice Islam. The situation has changed such that there are fewer mandirs while mosques and shrines have been mushrooming on illegally occupied private and government land. Apparently, these illegal mosques and mazars were strategically built near the seashore by cutting down the forest area.
Illegal immigration, marriage, and forceful evictions of Hindu families
Bet-Dwarka is just 105 kilometres from Karachi. It takes only two to three hours by sea route to reach the Pakistani city. Pakistan has been exploiting this proximity and infiltrating illegal migrants in the garb of marriage.
Many girls living in Bet Dwarka marry Pakistani citizens. Many Pakistani girls have married the Muslim residents of Bet-Dwarka. This marriage alliance goes hand in hand with the forceful evictions of Hindu families from the region. Gujarat Tourism Minister Purnesh Modi also highlighted this Pakistani connection and “marriage alliance.”
Additionally, 80% of the residents are involved in fishing. They catch fish in international waters. There is no account of how many illegal Pakistanis have entered India through this route. Here, some houses are built in such a way that these boats can go inside, which have been exploited for illegal immigration from Pakistan.
Recent action by the government
Earlier, in December 2021, the Sunni Waqf Board staked claim on two islands in Bet Dwarka. The Gujarat High Court lambasted the Waqf Board for making such a ridiculous and brazenly audacious claim. The court categorically asked what your rights were under Krishna’s Nagari and dismissed the petition.
Later, in October 2022, the government authorities carried out an extensive campaign to reclaim the illegally encroached public and government land. The authorities demolished more than 100 encroachments. These also included illegally built mosques and other religious structures. The illegally occupied land was estimated to be worth Rs 6.5 crore.

Reportedly, bulldozers demolished around 40% of the encroachment. After the elections, it will be a major responsibility for the state government to demolish the rest of the illegal construction as it poses a great threat to national security. The illegal buildings demolished included the house and shops of a fish trader, Ramzan Gani Palani. He alone had occupied 5,000 square feet of land and built shops near the seashore. In 2019, he was arrested after the seizure of 236 kg of drugs worth Rs 500 crore from the Jakhau coast of Kutch. In the same case, the NIA had named six Pakistanis on its charge sheet.
It was discovered that these illegal high-rise buildings disguised as religious structures were constructed to monitor maritime activities and had ties to the banned terrorist organisation Popular Front of India (PFI).
This is why it is critical that this growing threat be dealt with sternly, and that a strategic island like Bet-Dwarka be liberated from the clutches of Pakistani stooges and sympathisers, so that the area can reclaim its lost glory.
